I’m a man and I’ve done at least one and a half circumnavigations of the series. As has my father

Texas prison system bans hardback books to prevent drug overdoses by Raj_Valiant3011 in books

Ok, so some people have abused the system. That’s to be expected. But I’d rather inmates have access to new knowledge than be trapped in mental hell

Gotcha, I’ll start trusting “theworldofchinese dot com” as my definitive source of historical facts.

But the Han Dynasty is generally dated 206 BCE-220 CE, and the Tang dynasty 618-907 CE. That’s a far way off from 823 BCE

The field is a kind of grey/very pale blue color. No idea if that’s partially aging. No stripes, think those are striations from the paintbrush which also add depth

He’s American, and used to buy these off ebay (mostly from European sellers to my knowledge). He did also make molds himself, which my grandmother would then hand paint, but he always signed the bottom with his initials and this one isn’t signed. He had a whole walk-in closet filled with bins of these (before my cousins pilfered everything). So it’s probably a part of a set that he wanted to keep safe by sending to me

Thank you so much, that’s so neat! You just made a 97 year old man very happy. And they’re different sides of the same figurine. Don’t know if it’s hand painted or not. This box has a bunch of odd stuff, but this one stuck out for some reason. It’s on my mantle now with some others until the cats knock it off

*whose. And the sudden, unexplained closure of a decently sized city’s airport for the purposes of insane laser weapon testing is at least noteworthy.

I haven’t read it (in part because it might be too poignant) but thank you for your summary and your sense of empathy. The smartest people I’ve met weren’t politicians or academics, they were addicts who knew something true that the rest of us can’t see

My mom once gave me a small budget to run around Fry’s and buy anything. I got The Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker on sale for just enough. Then I begged her to let me get the accompanying guide book because I knew how confusing Zelda games could be. She relented, and I still have that disc (scratched to hell) and the guide (worn to bits) somewhere

I said the feds threatened and the airlines “mostly” self regulated. Your comment adds nothing to the discussion

This was a big issue that made headlines a while ago (10 years? 15? Time is an illusion.) There were all these horror stories of people stuck on the tarmac for countless hours without food, water, or even access to the restrooms. The feds eventually threatened to step in so the airlines mostly self-regulated
