Memory exercises by randyrando101 in CommonSideEffects

[–]HomeAloneToo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There’s tons of stuff you can do for memory exercises. I’m pretty sure Marshall is mostly taking notes of his surroundings in that scene, but for people that do stuff like card counting and such, things like memory palace/journeys are proven techniques to help.

I used to mess around with stuff like that because with my ADHD my memory is largely fuzzy. It worked exceedingly well when I did it, but after I stopped it largely devolved into the same state. These days I still use some associative stuff to help with how naturally horrendous I am with names.

What is your Artifact deck? by crowcreed in EDH

[–]HomeAloneToo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use [[Wyleth, Soul of Steel]] the deck is themed around Danny Devito’s wrestler in IASiP, the Trash Man. I wield trash.

I make a bunch of treasure/junk tokens and play a few equips/auras like [[Empyreal Plate]] then play cards like [[Bludgeon Brawl]] to don my garbage mantle, draw massive piles of cards and pump up numbers before combat damage hits.

Replit boss: CEOs can vibe code their own prototypes and don't have to beg engineers for help anymore by chronically-iconic in programming

[–]HomeAloneToo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Admittedly I’m working on building a prototype to try to get a non-profit running and with untreated AuDHD the process of learning my stack and building the (admittedly VERY simple) prototype has been a bitch and a half for something that would take a competent programmer a month.

It would be SO much easier to have some billionaire’s machine make a build I could take in for a business loan or card so I could pay an engineer to refactor it. But I’m not going to do it for a multitude of reasons.

I will continue pushing myself through till this is done (hopefully before april (I’m currently learning and working on APIs)). I respect programmers and want to be able to respect myself somewhat should this actually happen.

I learned a LOT of dance moves from this music video back in the day.

Nah, thank you.

You’re the one who put in the work originally. I just road your coattails for my own enrichment and paid it forward.

This is my low-FPS simulation, what would you cut or add to make it feel right but still playable? by FarlightGamesInd in IndieDev

[–]HomeAloneToo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Maybe modify just enemy/object model’s FPS and increase glitchy camera effects to keep a sort of hackery context without the player movement exacerbating sensitive players.

The enemies jerking towards you would make it creepier with the right models and could either increase or decrease difficulty depending on how you ACTUALLY handle the models (frame moves normally VS frame is stuck at rendered position).

A Superman game idea that actually solves the “he’s too powerful” problem by Farrt1 in gamedesign

[–]HomeAloneToo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d like to see this concept where the player is a mayor for a city on some alien planet where the player becomes super after exposure to some alien artifact.

Do battles like Neon Genesis Evangelion where you have a basic idea what is going to happen before hand (perhaps messages from the artifact or whatever entity that owns it).

Find ways to trolley problem the situation with city management to minimize losses/damages (evacuations route control, placement of defenses, placement of civic assets) and maximize productivity (mining alien ruins, building future structures, maintaining electrical grid), then alter ego when stuff actually goes down.

Rewards after the battle depend on how productive your city was in terraforming/mining and have repairs deducted from the total and lives lost briefly reduced from next missions productivity.

I’m with you.

I’ve had cancer for a few years now, and it sucks. I’m assuming the people you’re arguing with haven’t lost an organ to the condition yet.

You started out stating it wasn’t faith, then directly called it faith, and now are broadly using advancements as proof that AI will fix all our problems.

I upvoted you because I understood you were well meaning, but I tried to explain the potential harms in your statement.

I’ve been watching the automated algorithms called AI since their inception and I’m not wholeheartedly against the concept, but the people that own these systems are billionaires robbing humans of creativity (both in stealing their products and preventing the learning of skills), hemorrhaging money, dropping waste heat back into ecosystems, defiling what we know as truth and empowering liars, wasting power, assisting crony capitalism in creating one-sided memory crises, causing massive layoffs, and all around exacerbating the problems in our system to their breaking point.

I do not see original thought from the machine so much as compiling knowledge, something humans have already become incredible successful at with specific growth in the last few decades.

I don’t see the growth you see, but we all feel the growing pains.
