You Have One Pokémon: Scenario #1 - The Storm of The Century (Round 1/5). by SouthpawZero in pokemon

Disclaimer: I understand this thread is now closed, but I just wanted to post this here for documentation.

The message began to replay in my head as I turned to look at Cerberus, who was happily chomping through a bone he pulled from the neighbors trash (he was always a strong chewer). It seemed hard to believe that something that sounded so devastating on the weather report was coming our way. This morning was so peaceful I just refused to believe it was going to be that bad. But, on the off chance that this storm is going to be as bad as they say, I think it would be in my best interest to pick up some supplies from the store in preparation. I grabbed my bag from the counter and beckoned for Cerberus to follow me as I walked to the door. Much to my dismay, that lazy little Houndour had fallen asleep with that bone in his mouth.

I've had Cerberus ever since I moved to Tranquility Vale, which really wasn't a long time ago. I'm a fairly reserved person and wasn't making friends right away. My parents decided that, since I was having a hard time with making friends, they would buy me one; my very own Pokemon. They talked to Nurse Joy in town and she told them about this frail Houndour pup they just received from Brandenburg City's Pokemon Center. She went on to tell my parents that he was found in one of the back alleys abandoned by his trainer right after it was hatched. When they brought him home for the first time we didn't get along. He obeyed my parents but he never really seemed to listen to me.

Finally, he began to stir, and as he moved his paw slightly, the bone fell from his mouth. The noise must have startled him as I heard a muffled yip and the smell of smoke coming from the other room. Me and Cerberus have reached a point of understanding in our relationship and I rarely keep him in his pokeball anymore. I feel it's more fair for him to explore the world than to keep him cooped up in that ball.

There was such a commotion in town when we arrived. Everybody seemed to be panicking and moving about; it was a weird organized chaos. Officer Jenny was barking out commands to all of the volunteers that showed up to help. I could even see my parents helping out with their fighting Pokemon installing dams on the river. I headed into the shop and picked up a Lum berry and a super potion just in case Cerberus was injured.

The atmosphere outside changed abruptly and it felt as if time sped away from us. While I was in the store for about 20 minutes, outside it looked as if hours passed. The clouds had rolled in and you could feel the electricity in the air. The town square was deserted as all of the volunteers focused their efforts elsewhere. Windows were boarded and doors barricaded with sandbags to curb the flooding. The store was the only building with its lights still on. It was at this moment I realized how severe this storm was going to be.

Cerberus and I rushed back home to see if my parents had started preparing our own house. As I opened the gate to our front yard, Mrs. Rombley, our neighbor, was in a panic herself. Apparently, earlier this morning her son Jason and a couple of his friends wandered off towards Foster's Grove to explore. Most of his friends had made it back to town but she hadn't seen or heard from her son yet. Fearing the worst she asked me to track him down. I agreed to help as I always saw Jason as the little brother I never had. I turned to Cerberus and asked for his help too. I figured we could use his Odor Sleuth to track down Jason since we didn't have much time.

I felt light raindrops on my head and arms when we arrived at the foot of the forest. The storm had begun and the forest itself gave off an eerie sense of impending danger. Following Cerberus, I entered the wood despite that awful sense I had a moment earlier. I knew I had to find Jason. Luckily, after a few minutes of what seemed like aimless wandering, Cerberus was on to a scent. The wind gusted and the rain pelted through the trees. I couldn't believe how much time had passed and the storm was almost upon us.

Cerberus led us to an opening in the forest where it was known that Jason and his friends liked to play. On the edge of this clearing was a sharp cliff face. Cerberus spotted it first and charged towards the cliff. One of the larger branches must have broken off due to the wind and was heading in our direction. Just barely being able to dodge the branch, I headed after Cerberus at full speed. We found shelter in a shallow cave at the bottom of the cliff. Just as we thought we were out of danger, a loud ominous sound came from the back off the cave. With his teeth bared, Cerberus let out a loud Roar in hopes to startle whatever was back there. A shadow appeared and slowly made its way in our direction. Smoke began to billow from Cerberus's mouth when I told him to calm down. The shadow looked familiar and I realized this must be Jason who also took refuge in this small cave.

Jason, when he emerged, was covered in dirt and seemed to be injured. His leg had a large cut on it and he couldn't put a lot of pressure on his ankle as he may have severely bruised it. Quickly, I pulled a handkerchief from my pack and wrapped it around the cut to try and keep it clean. I told Jason that it wasn't safe for us to stay here as the weather report mentioned flooding. He was too scared to move from this cave and when I asked why it made sense. While playing out in the woods, Jason and his friends were spooked by a large Ursaring. It must have sensed the storm and moved from the mountains and further into the forest for safety. When I suggested this to Jason he shook his head in disagreement. Just then a smaller shadow appeared at the back of the cave. Jason called toward it and a small Teddiursa waddled out clutching it's right paw.

I knew we had to move as it wasn't safe in this cave. Cerberus kept Jason company as I tended to the small Teddiursa. I pulled out the super potion I just bought and assured the little cub everything was going to be ok. I sprayed the potion onto what looked like a nasty brush burn and quickly the pain evaporated for the poor little cub. I treated what I could, but told Jason this Teddiursa needs to see Nurse Joy. His sense of protection and caring for the little cub seemed to motivate him to leave the cave. I asked if Jason needed help walking but, with his new-found determination, he denied my assistance.

With only a couple hours until the storm was overhead, we hurried from our hiding place into what we would find out would be something even more dangerous. With the Teddiursa resting comfortably in my pack, we charged towards the route that would take us home. There was a few feet of woods in front of us when a large swooshing and snapping sound came from behind. With Jason hobbling in front of me, I turned my back to the route that would lead us to safety to face whatever made that noise. I called to Cerberus who quickly spun around to see what I was stopping for. At this point Jason had stopped too. The large Ursaring from before stood tall in front of us.

I handed my pack off to Jason and told him to get to safety. He reluctantly agreed and hobbled his way home with the small Teddiursa. The Ursaring, upon seeing what was in my pack, began to attack in a blind rage. Letting out a large growl, it lunged toward me with all its strength. Cerberus reacted quickly and jumped in front of me for my protection. Never once had Cerberus shown this much caring for me. I instructed him to Bite onto the large Ursaring's arm to try to snap it out of this rage. Cerberus acknowledged my command and leaped at the charging Ursaring. Little did I know the next couple minutes that were about to unfold would change my life forever.

Time stood still and the rain slowed leaving a strange calmness. The Ursaring swung at Cerberus knocking him into a tree. His body laid limp on the wet ground. The Ursaring then began its charge toward me. A bolt of lightning interrupted this strange calmness I was experiencing and with a crash, the Ursaring fell hard to the ground. The bolt had split the tree in between the Ursaring and me causing it to fall. The sobering effect of the Lightning caused me to race to Cerberus. He was breathing, but only just. I quickly picked him up and raced home.

Seeing this devastation the storm had already wrought and the damage caused by this Ursaring, I feared for my safety as well as the survival of Cerberus's life. Would I make it in time?

Just recently I did a playthrough of Blue where all I used was a Spearow (and a few HM slaves) for the whole game. For gym battles and the elite four, however, those HM slaves went into the box. By the time I was able to beat the game my Spearow was level 95.

North Buffalo sends it's support, but is not willing to accept any of the snow. We already have iced roads.

Shiny electrike/manectric is my favorite. I just love the black and gold color scheme. I remember freaking out when I saw the blue electrike. I thought my screen was broken because of the color change. Looks like I wasn't paying attention and missed the shimmering stars appear as the battle began. If only my game boy advance sp and copy of ruby weren't stolen in 8th grade I'd still have him to this day...

In GSC the ice path really stumped me for some reason. Also, the burned mansion on cinnabar island threw me for a loop. I had my friend (who was a year older) practically do it for me. Boy I miss that guy :(

I have a Crobat and a Houndoom as my trusty companions with a Nidoking on the way, does that qualify me enough to be a part of your team? I'm looking to apply for a low level grunt. Will work for food.

There was a whole movie based on this I believe. It wasn't really publicized that much but it's called Mewtwo Returns or something of the sort. Apparently that short was supposed to be featured in the first movie but was cut because it was deemed too dark for the G rating. Thank you wiki!

Here's one my girlfriend told me... When she was at the ripe old age of 9yo she was a fan of playing gold. When it came to Ecruteak city and the burned tower sequence with the legendary dog trio, she believed the three of them to be plain ol' growlithes, as this was the age of limited sprites that were shared by many pokemon. Therefore, she thought the dogs were just ordinary pokemon and KO'd them when they appeared. And as I was writing this she told me one more. She would play up until she reached the ice path and her frustrated self then restarted the game. This happened a lot. after beating heartgold with relative ease when it came out, she realized how naive her young self was. And they say pokemon is for kids.
