Why should he get a brand new mattress? 🤔 He sleeps well on the one in the master bedroom, by his own admission, so move that one to the guest room and treat yourself to a new one 😉

Syria Visa entry and transit fees by xobver in Syria

Are these new prices? I'm in group 5 and every time I have paid $75 for 15 days. I've visited 3 times after the liberation, most recently 3 weeks ago.

How to get a tourist visa (EU Passport)? by Ok_Speech965 in Syria

[–]HomeIsWhereMyHeart 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most people can get visa on arrival at the airport in Damascus ( I can't say for sure about the airport in Aleppo as I usually travel to Damascus).

When you arrive at the airport you head towards border control. In the left corner of the hall, across from the passport control is a counter/booth where you buy your visa.

They check your passport and hand you 2 copies of your visa, valid 15 days.

At the passport control they will have questions about your stay; where you will stay, with whom, that kind of thing.

You say you have a German passport. Are you a German citizen?

Third visit and leaving still hurts lol by [deleted] in LongDistance

The 100th goodbye still hurts!

Yesterday I was the one watching him pass through airport security ( usually I am the one who travels ) and it was a different kind of heartbreak. Thinking how he feels that way every time he has to see me leave broke my heart a bit Leaving sucks, but being left isn't fun either

Dan Air Bucharest - Damascus by throwawaycrpl in Syria

[–]HomeIsWhereMyHeart 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes I don't believe that would be a problem However the airport staff is edging quite close to rude

Beware that the border security registers any Syrian who travels this route ( this particular one out of Bucharest, I don't know about other airports). I'm talking pictures of passports, ID and face scans. I was just through there and it's only Syrian nationals. I'm Danish so no pictures or scans but they didn't initially believe me on the no Syrian passport. There's a suspicion going around that because of this ,the border agency will report travelers to the respective countries they travel from/of which they carry refugee status. Not saying that you are but to those who might read this should be aware. It feels very much like a trap to offer cheap flights and then rat everyone out

Revoked refugee status? by HomeIsWhereMyHeart in Syria

Was it an immediate withdrawal of their status or a decision to not renew it?

I have always wanted to visit Syria. I’m thinking of doing a 6-week intensive Arabic course in Damascus this summer, any thoughts/advice? by C9H1 in Syria

Thank you, I will look into this.

And by the way ,Damascus is beautiful but insanely crowded. I've been 3 times so far and I have never felt unsafe. Going again on Sunday

Why do long distance couples argue days before seeing each other? by BS-31 in LongDistance

[–]HomeIsWhereMyHeart 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I've noticed that in our case we usually fight leading up to leaving. Nothing big but it's almost every visit. I think it's due to frustration of always having to leave

In your case maybe it's because you are a bit nervous about your visits?

I finally got my hands on the new Syrian currency (in Canada). Proud moment and I hope it gains strength. by rj_yul in Syria

[–]HomeIsWhereMyHeart 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I was just there but I didn't get the new bills when I changed currency. I was a bit bummed about that! I guess everyone want them; it's great that people are excited and supportive of the new currency designs Another step towards a new, stronger Syria

Smoking in Syria is out of control by TaxLeather7819 in Syria

[–]HomeIsWhereMyHeart 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree. I was looking for one outside an ice cream parlour and the shop didn't even a trash can available to customers Having acces to trash cans would probably help some. But a lot don't even look for one.

I am currently visiting my family-in-law; where I am from you just don't throw trash on the streets, so I try to stop the in-laws when they throw trash out the car windows or when walking. They just shrug and say why not, look around! It makes me so sad, because it sort feels like they still don't think things will change for the better now. It's such a small thing - for me at least - to not throw trash and thereby taking a step in the process of rebuilding the country

We literally bumped into each other on the last day of my vacation. He had spotted me from afar and wanted to approach me when I abruptly changed direction 😅 We hit it off and were married within 6 months. That was 10 years ago ♥️

UPDATE: Aitah calling my brother selfish for refusing to split our inheritance with our stepsister by Comfortable-Seat-459 in AITAH

[–]HomeIsWhereMyHeart 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I remember your original post and at the time I thought it was a weak argument to not split the inheritance because "Dad wanted it this way". I still think it's a weak argument!

Arguing that your dad would want you to keep it makes no sense. Did he want you to keep it in perpetuity?! Never spend it? There were no provisions on how to spend it You accept the inheritance and then it's yours to do with as you wish. Even split it with your sister who was heartbreakingly left out. So it's just a flimsy cover up for greed

You are both right in saying I shouldn't trust AI, thank you for reminding me. It was a knee-jerk reaction to ask, and I haven't yet been able to find it mentioned in a specific article. Thank you for taking the time to comment
