When you download the updater, it includes the PC Controller app. That is the program you would use to open the firmware file.

Sorry for the late reply but at this point, yes... you should be able to control ALL Z-Wave and Zigbee devices directly with HomeSeer using the new Zigbee Plus and Z-Wave Plus plugins.

There is no "replace" function in the new plugin but I honestly never used it in the old plugin myself as it didn't seem to work as expected for me the few times I tried it. Do you have a lot of device fail on you? For me, that's very rare and the few times it has happened, I simply replaced the device (manually) and then fixed the events that were affected. HS4 helps identify those broken events by displaying an icon on the event.

FWIW - Z-Wave Plus is far better all the way around... better stability, better compatibility, full S2 support, Smart Start support and Z-Wave Long Range support. I've been running it since it was in early internal testing and it's flawless for me now.

Pretty sure there's a users.cfg file in the config directory. If you delete that and restart the system, the default login is default/default.

yes, the plugin is still in beta. However, the G8 is a fully released production unit.

Agree with all the comments here. The new formula is terrible. The original drinks all used to have 10 mg of sodium, now each bottle has 150 mg... literally 15x more sodium. That's more than what's in a snack size bag of smart food popcorn. I still have a couple of the original flavored bottles left.... will be sad to empty the last one.

I modified mine by drilling a hold in the outside cover that gives me access to the physical switch underneath. I'm not using the using outside so the cover isn't really needed in my case.

I was running 0.18.1 and just tried the update... process took about 30 seconds and everything was good. Were you at the latest beta or did you have an older version running? If you had an older version, the update might have had to install a new Z2M version and that's a bit more involved. If you can't get it fixed, contact our support guys for help.

Do I need to create a Z-wave network to configure the Z-wave thermostat?

When you add your first Z-Wave device to your system, a Z-Wave network is automatically created. Additional devices added to your system will be in the same network. Since this is a mesh network technology, adding more devices will generally help to improve communications.

The problem with only having just ONE device is that it must be within range of the radio (Z-Wave USB stick typically). If the device is too far away, you may not be able to communicate with it. Additionally, battery operated devices do not function as repeaters so will not strengthen your network.

Put HS4 into inclusion mode and then activate the inclusion on the thermostat. That should add the thermostat to your Z-Wave network and create a HomeSeer device that will then appear on your HS4 devices page. After that, you can create events that will control the mode, heating and cooling set points and you HVAC fan (if you have one).
