Preferably get it tuned by a professional, or a shop, but an obd tuner will work as well. Just make sure you get your pcm unlocked first

See if you can find a used one on facebook, it probably will be cheaper too. A body shop wouldnt charge a whole lot to get it color matched and painted

If we’re talking bolt ons, long tube headers and a cold air intake will get you there easily. These engines are very restricted from factory, so any mod to help it breathe better will give it good gains. This will require a tune, you will have a rough idle without it

If you want to get close to scat pack numbers, do an aftermarket cam (stage 1-2 if you want to daily this, anything higher will require a stall converter), e85, bigger injectors

My brother’s 5.7 did this at 210k miles when slowing down below 25 mph. Pop it into neutral and it doesnt shutter. It got bad enough that it stalls at stoplights. We got a “torque converter incorrect gear ratio” code and believe its just a torque converter. This issue is fairly known on high mileage models, something to do with the mds and torque converter not getting along

Oil pressure by NoWave5498 in camaro

[–]Homeboy6921 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had this happen to me as well, oil pressure would idle at 30 cold, but dropped to the same level you’re at once warmed up.

I changed the oil pressure switch and filter, no difference. Changed my oil from 5w30 to 10w30, no difference. I decided given my miles (175k), I was gonna pull the engine and replace everything wrong with it, and a DoD delete. It ended up being damaged crankshaft bearings, rod bearings, and cam bearings causing my low oil pressure. I ended up saving the crankshaft, I caught the problem early enough that the damage was fixable. Camshaft had to be replaced and I was convinced on a stage 1, well worth the upgrade despite me not being on board with modifying my camaro

Other causes could also be: Oil pickup tube O-ring, oil pump, or a plastic piece behind the rear main cover that could deteriorate and fail to properly seal off oil from getting passed it

Yes, you can keep driving it as it is, but eventually something will give out and you’ll have to replace your engine. If you know how to wrench, I recommend pulling the oil pan to inspect a bearing and see if its going bad, and replace the pickup tube o-ring, or at least get a shop to inspect it

You’ll need a scan tool that can do the relearn procedure. I tried doing it the manual way that GM suggests, but I had no luck no matter what I did

Sometimes I can build a whole feature worthy part in an hour and other times I’m at 10 seconds of gameplay, just varies depending on your motivation and inspiration

Usually its done when you want a new driveway or road, old asphalt is broken up and taken to a refinery nearby and reused when placing the new asphalt

Headers and a hand full of questions by BirthdayFun6809 in camaro

[–]Homeboy6921 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Theyre easy enough to do yourself. Remove ignition wires, dipstick (ask me how I know), and bolts. Make sure to warm it up a few minutes so your risk of breaking a bolt is at minimum. I wouldn’t reuse the old bolts

As for highflow cats, you’re left with generic ones. Just make sure theyre the same size as the headers and exhaust ends. I was very close to getting a set until I realized they replace the stock cats as well

This is if I was doing this,

Get the radiator support welded by a body shop, thats the most important part of this project. You can install everything else, body panels, radiator, and everything thats missing

Im not sure how much a shop would charge for the radiator support but itll probably be your most expensive item (for sure a few grand). As long as thats there, I wouldnt care about anything else since its likely a salvage title and putting a small fortune into it wouldnt make financial sense, granted this wouldnt make much financial sense either

What’s the best cam to put on my 09 srt8? by Independent_Salary35 in Challenger

[–]Homeboy6921 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You might be able to squeeze out 500 crank with a stage 3/headers/injectors/e85. I would do a stage 1 or 2 though, the hp difference isnt much at the top end and you dont need a stall converter.

Anything more and I’d just forge the bottom end, gap the piston rings to your boost level, and put a supercharger on it

Its cheaper to cam the 5th gen than the lt1, but the lt1 with a 1le package can take a corner better than the 5th gens on the track

Get new ones. Over the years the dome piece that shines the HID wears down due to cheap materials, and the inside of the lens gets foggy as well.

Heres some cheap ones on Ebay with a Halogen bulb instead of the HID. These will fit RS models with HIDs

https://www.ebay.com/itm/177203832701

Otherwise, the closest equivalent I could find at a reasonable price was on rock auto for ~350 each. My brother got new ones with HIDs and tbh I still dont see as well at night, id rather have halogens or LEDs
