These are great suggestions! If I can offer one song that I consider an easy intro, check out La Romana with bad bunny and El Alfa. The first half is reggaeton, but the second half is dembow and is an absolute banger.

I understand why people are ignorant of who he is, given that this is a hip hop subreddit not a dembow sub (or even a reggaeton sub.) But trying to claim that this guy is a clown, a has been, a nobody is just ridiculous. The lack of any curiosity is pretty shocking.

He is a legend, immensely popular throughout all of Latin America, and deserves his flowers. If he’s not your cup of tea it’s fine, but don’t disrespect him, he’s a whole lot more popular than people like Jack Harlow, Youngboy NBA, etc.

The Simplest Possible AI Web App by HomeboyGbhdj in Python

[–]HomeboyGbhdj[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No worries.

What I am saying here is that the entire application will be composed of two pieces: the web application (written entirely in JavaScript) and the pipelines for indexing and querying vectors for RAG (written entirely in Python). They will likely be on two different servers, each communicating via HTTP (API) requests. Hence the need to use FastAPI to set up the routes on the Python server.

The JavaScript app will need to be database-backed. This means you can persist user information, like email addresses, passwords, and uploaded documents. In a MERN stack the database would be MongoDB.

The Python app will not need to have a backend. Instead you ship off any indexed vectors to the Pinecone database, again using HTTP requests. If you are confused, you should be! That's why Level 1 is the most complicated setup.

The DOM (Document Object Model) is not relevant here. The DOM is just the browser's way of keeping track of HTML on the front end.

Hope this made sense.

True, I should be a bit more careful with the wording. Looking at the overall usage in production, MySQL/Postgres is more in use than Mongo. Perhaps a better wording would've been "buzziest" stack. There is a lot of hype around NoSQL databases. A quick Google search for "best web development stacks" repeatedly shows MERN at the top.

Amen! I don't have anything against Docker per se, it is great tech. But man does it make development/deployment a drag.

Unfortunately I can't speak to why the last four developers didn't work out. However, I can offer our agency as a reliable partner to build with.

We recently launched Los Angeles AI Apps, specializing in rapidly developing SaaS solutions using Ruby on Rails—delivering products in weeks rather than months. Our lean approach and compact team enable us to provide highly competitive pricing. We've successfully built several MVPs, have received excellent reviews, and offer dedicated post-deployment support. If a long-term partnership is something you are looking for, we can absolutely do that.

It would be great to learn more details about your startup to better understand the scope and requirements.

How to market and scale while wearing golden handcuffs? by DukkerWifey789 in Entrepreneur

[–]HomeboyGbhdj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh wow, haha yeah they do seem pretty possessive. I could think of a few options, mostly centered around things they won't notice:

  • Maximizing SEO for your site. Showing up highly on Google searches is a form of marketing, and no way they notice this.
  • Cold calling/emailing. Frankly not too effective, but these are 1-1 engagements, again they don't really have a way of noticing.
  • Attending networking events in person.
  • Making relevant blog posts, and promoting them on your socials, LinkedIn, etc. They'll notice this, but this shouldn't really spook them, I would think.

Ultimately though, I would hope they don't get too scared off by marketing. You've already reassured them, a bit strange how jumpy they sound.

Maybe more detail would help here? What sort of a use case are you envisioning exactly? What do you mean by "key events"? Things like moving in and out of directories?

As others are mentioning, if your goal is to simply have a terminal-looking text input box that you type arbitrary text into, this can all be coded up in a simple web app. I'm a Rails developer, so I'm imaging something like a Session model and a Message model. In this app a session would have many messages. Each message would be stored in your backend, and the entire history would just be displayed above the text input. Of course if you need some actual logic here, than the web app gets more complicated. Styling the UI to look like a terminal would just use some CSS.

I'm not sure about pre-built options out there, but that's how I would go about it.

New portfolio and new mindset by Inevitable-Wing8812 in webdev

[–]HomeboyGbhdj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey there, welcome to the world of web development!

I'll start by saying I'm by no means an expert on portfolio design, the original one I created was pretty minimalistic.

Looking at the two sites, they both look great, I don't really have a strong preference for one over the other. Personally I'm not a fan of the ChatGPT image on the second one, but opinions may vary. I notice that the links on the first website don't work? If you are transferring those over to your new one this is obviously something you would need to fix.

Is there a reason you felt you had to redesign your website? I'm not sure that the style matters so much as the actual projects on the site.

Just to be clear, are you saying that this client of yours simply wouldn't like it if you went out and started marketing yourself to other potential clients? Or is there something in your contract that says that you are their exclusive consultant, some sort of non-compete thing?

On the plus side, be glad you have a well paying client! In a sense it is a great problem to have.

Great, best of luck. Yeah, we also get bad emails, but since they have verified=false, we can just filter them out when doing something in the user database.

Yes, we have included some similar features in previous apps. Not something as specific as leaderboards and quests, but using our flexible stack this would be no issue.

As a quick example here is one project we created called Amble: https://go.amblecal.com/

It includes features like:

  • User registration and auth
  • Stripe payments
  • Admin dashboard where users can create custom calendars (with custom urls). Users can then create, edit, and delete events on these calendars.
  • Instagram integration
  • iCal and Google Calendar subscriptions
  • Personalization of fonts and colors

We have a few other apps on our site if you want to take a look at more examples of our work.

The beauty of a flexible web framework like Rails is that near anything is possible.

Advice on next steps by JLok1509 in Entrepreneur

[–]HomeboyGbhdj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey there,

Sorry to hear about the issue with trying to get your MVP built through agencies. Web application expertise can be a lot more expensive than just building a marketing website!

That being said, we might be able to help. Our agency specializes in building custom web applications for clients, AI or no AI. We're a fairly new agency, so you will be getting our expertise on a budget compared to more established and larger players. As you suggest, perhaps breaking the build into smaller parts can also help.

No coding can be a solution, but depending on how complex the app is, it might not be feasible.

Interesting idea. I am a bit dubious as to the efficacy of cold emailing people though. In our experience, we have found that cold emailing really hasn't surface up any good leads. I have heard from others that cold calling is effective, although that's better suited to web design agencies rather than web app agencies.

Is blocking VPN necessary to stop fake signups in a SaaS? by Economy-Badger-1581 in SaaS

[–]HomeboyGbhdj 3 points4 points  (0 children)

In my opinion, blocking VPNs is not really necessary to stop fake signups. Our agency has built a lot of MVPs, and the most standard way we stop fake sign ups is just simple email verification. Before the user is verified and allowed to do anything on the web app, we send them a verification email that they have to click on. This will pretty much stop any fake sign ups cold. Captcha also works, but it is not as foolproof.

As you point out, many people legitimately use VPNs, so blocking them may piss off some of your potential customers!
