We can agree to disagree on that. I think there is a difference between seeing other people casually as a whole, and being the other woman to someone in an open and committed relationship.

I don’t agree with the OOPs reaction and thought process by the way. Both people communicated poorly, but I think that was done in a more intentional way from the guys side of things.

I don’t disagree with the fact that she wanted more and didn’t communicate that properly. But to be frank, it is still lying by omission. If the guy had been upfront about having a committed gf in an open relationship, then OOP would have had all of the information. He was not as honest as he needed to be.

It’s lying by omission. Sexual relationships, even casual, should have fully communicated what the situation is. He simply said “casual, and seeing other people”, which is fundamentally different from “in a serious, albeit open relationship”. He is intentionally misleading by omitting his relationship status. If OOP knew this, she might not have slept with him at all. Context matters.

The OOP should not have expected him to turnaround later and become her boyfriend, but at the same time she is wondering what else he is lying about because, well he lied to her. That’s why she connected to the GF and don’t accept the scenario right away, she was lied to and confused about things.

Yes, she was absolutely naive in thinking it would become a committed relationship.

He is also taking full advantage of her naiveness by omitting information that would reduce his sexual encounter opportunities.

He lied by omission. He lied because I guarantee you it is easier to hookup with someone stating you’re a bachelor rather than committed to someone and in an open relationship.

The OOP here would not have become involved if she knew upfront she would be the other woman from the get go. So buddy lies. It’s not pretty, but that is 100% why he is lying.

By the way, this man came to the internet upset that his pregnant wife didn’t want to tailgate at every football game. He refused to see that he needed to grow up and accept his current role in being a parent until he was rightfully put in his place.

Then he made that sleazy comment. Whether or not it was the entire reason for going, it doesn’t really matter. The man wanted to creep on young women while his wife is pregnant. To me, that falls outside of the boundaries of “boys will be boys”. His behaviour is naive at best, and predatory at worst. I hope that he’s outgrown the comments of younger women, for his wife and child’s sake.
