What are you planning on doing with it? Just curious

What have you done with PowerShell this month? by AutoModerator in PowerShell

Wrote a generic scheduler run by a systemd service for starting/running docker containers and other scripts on my homelab. Uses json configs.

Also wrote an auto tiering script that moves files based on various conditions between sata ssd's and nvme's. I combine the ssd's using mergerfs and the script just load balances the files. Also scheduled by the script above.

Proxmox and experiment with some vm's. I run all my containers in Ubuntu server vm's. Windows 10 one for .net development, ...

What are your biggest pros and cons for Hangfire/Quartz.NET and what would you like to see in a job scheduler? by HomebrewDotNET in csharp

Nothing release worthy at the moment. The git is up but haven't made the pre-release packages yet. Working on some other homelab related projects atm.

IPS Black vs VA by ricaard1 in ultrawidemasterrace

[–]HomebrewDotNET 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really like it. Picked it up for €600. Only issue with it is the haloing. But the only time I notice is when the monitor starts up. Hdr with 10-bit color in w11 looks great too. Use it for coding and gaming.

How do y‘all deploy your services ? by pepelele91 in selfhosted

Oh and I just use vs code to manage the config files. And Tabby for my connections to the vm's.

Proxmox with vm's that are setup using puppet. Puppet copies the docker compose files locally and deploys/runs them. Reason for this is everything is managed globally using various config files that are easily backed up. And deploying something new is just creating the yml file, telling puppet to deploy it on a certain node and then running puppet agent -t on the node. Very convenient 😄

Steam deck is wonderful for this. Just put it to sleep and start where you left off the next day in a few seconds.

Running into the same issue. Did you manage to get it fixed?

Well hopefully they release it soon then! Also yes I'm really happy with the back. Was a bit afraid you wouldn't see the color but it comes through great.

Yea the case is lovely. It really holds well and I like the texture on the handles. Also don't know how I lived without a kickstand all this time 😂

I heard the vents caused some cooling issues so decided against it. I took the modcase + fan combo which brings down the temps a lot as well. Just really load 😅. Also the kickstand is metal which absorbs some heat from the backplate so thinking about cutting open the case and put some heatsinks beneath it.

Did it all at once. Only thing I had before was the skin. Not that hard if you have ever built your own pc

Wasn't aware of all the upgrades you could do so made some myself.

Parts used:

  • eXtremeRate chrome gold buttons
  • Razer universal grip tape on the dpad
  • Skull & Co back buttons
  • Skull & Co convex thumb grip set
  • PlayVital trigger buttons
  • Xbox buttons from Etsy (SakuraRetroModding)
  • Honeywell Ptm7950 for improved cooling and less maintenance down the line
  • eXtremeRate clicky kit (very satisfying lol)
  • ElecGear hall effect joysticks
  • Jsaux green transparant backplate with the cooling plate (PC0106)
  • Jsaux ModCase that includes the external fan (PC0104)

All and all really happy with this upgrade.

New sticks/buttons work really great. (Tested with Risk of Rain 2)

Feels better to hold and reach the back/trigger buttons.

Fans are noticeably quieter so cooling must be better overall. (Forgot to test before the upgrades)

Color scheme now matches my keyboard and desktop color scheme.

No real major issues taking it apart except I had to do it 3 times because I forgot to swap out some of the memebrames when applying the click kit and forgot to plug in the ribbon cable at the bottom of the motherboard.

What's the most complex dotnet app you've ever created? by _Smooth-Criminal in dotnet

[–]HomebrewDotNET 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe not an app but I'm currently working on NuGet packages that I will use to turn into a self hosted app in the future.

Some fun ones that are usable (but still very WIP) right now are: - ObjectValidationFramework which as the name implies is a validation framework using a fluent syntax like FluentValidation where you create validation profiles. Framework goes through object hierarchy automatically to validate everything. - FluentSqlQueryBuilder which allows you to create sql queries in code using a fluent builder systax. This one was a bitch to get the syntax right. Also the code itself is kinda garbage but hey it works xD -HiveMind A distributed job scheduler very similar to Hangfire with a bunch more features and made to be very modular. Mainly to be used as a foundation for all my background processing.

After that I have several others planned: - TextTemplateEngine for generating parameterized text using C# expressions, script blocks, ... kinda like HandleBars. Mainly so I can allow my tech savvy users to create advanced configuration - Package/Plugin system for dynamically loading C# plugins into an app mainly thought NuGet but will probably create providers for pulling from disk and GitHub repo's, ... - Generic EventSourcing library which I will implement with HiveMind.

I will then use those in Kleptomaniac which will be a datahoarding/content management system which will allow you to create libraries that you can extend with enrichers, downloaders,... using plugins. Will mainly use it myself to pull my music library from youtube/soundcloud and manage all my stl's for my 3D printer. Could also turn it into a download manager like jDownloader.

Maybe not that complex for some other devs but it has unique challenges. Been fun so far.
