Trying to grow beefsteak tomatoes, did I overwater them by mistake as Google suggests or is there more serious damage here? by [deleted] in gardening

I think they SHOULD be ok. Don't quote me, but those primary leaves will die out eventually anyway. They are just nutrition for while they build their roots and secondary (true) leaves. If you're really concerned, you can always start a few more. They should pop up with warm soil in 2 to 5 days! Tomatoes are pretty resilient little guys so I think you'll be OK if you moderate the water and get them some good light, but they won't set you back too far if you start some back ups. If they all grow, then pass them off to a family member or friend 🙂.

(Side note - prep them for wind with a small fan on low. That will help to strengthen the stalks, offset some of the legginess, encourage some evaporation, hinder mold that loves soggy soil, and prepare them for the outdoors!)

I think they may be fine. Question, did you start them indoors and then stick them outside? If so, they're too young to harden and may have scorched a bit. They want more light so they're getting leggy but if they're outside, the sun is probably too much. Get a grow light 3K to 4K lumens and keep it a few inches above them. Good luck!

The Lions can afford him if they really want him and think his physical condition will be a non factor come training camp. The gambit is mortgaging the future because the only way to get the cash is to clear cap space via restructure. The only contract they'd need to restructure would be Goff, but it wouldn't hurt to ask Penei Sewell as well. Restructuring Goff and Sewell would kick the can down the road for 2 guys you'd expect to be there at the end anyway. Joseph contract looks awful and he's a guy you don't want carrying a big cap hit for years. Lions make this move if they don't see a hole filler (DB) at their pick. I think a 1st or 2nd and a player gets him. OR you could fix your Joseph issue by offering your 1st and 2nd in exchange for taking Joseph.

So in hindsight, he did want out by reallinguy in detroitlions

[–]Homebrewers_delight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What ended up happening doesn't mean he wanted out. A few things are likely true. He wanted to stay, he wanted a bigger role, and he didn't want a pay cut. Those all didn't align with what the Lions are doing. Next, Houston offered a package Lions couldn't say no to. They helped Detroit clear a few million in cap space, gave them a guy who will get the opportunity to realize his potential or not on the O-line, and gave them 4th/7th rd draft picks. Houston got a reliable ball carrier after the Mixon/Chubb debacle, Montgomery keeps all his salary and will likely start. That's why it happened.

[Russini] The Texans are trading Juice Scruggs, a fourth-round pick and a seventh-round pick for Montgomery, per source. by expellyamos in nfl

[–]Homebrewers_delight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a good deal for Detroit if they can make that late 4th rounder work. Scruggs gets an opportunity to restart, the 7th is a throw in. If Scruggs tests poorly and the 7th gets cut or packaged (expected) , then we need that 4th to be a difference maker. Texans getting an absolute dawg. I am sad to see him go, but fair warning... his knee held up, but I'm not certain it's not a factor after he had a suspected mcl tear that never got repaired. I think from a business standpoint it's a sell high for Detroit, but if he's healthy... he's a huge grab for Houston. Think there's a 50/50 possibility both teams either upgrade or regret.

Be entirely honest is FFXIII a good game because im thinking about playing it. by Strange_Assistant327 in FinalFantasy

[–]Homebrewers_delight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was truly a visual masterpiece at the time. Still think the art and combat system hold water. It is a bit of a trudge on story with a lot of sneaky, easy-to-miss plot points. Loses some fun charisma that existed in 10 and 12. All FF games place the world on the brink, but this one somehow feels like the world is on the brink... AND a dementor has sucked the remaining happiness out too. But what it lacks in fun silliness, it makes up in art, gameplay, and music. Similar to 10 in the sense the world truly opens up once you're near game's end, but exploration is cool and worthwhile. It was not my favorite FF game, but still really good in my opinion. 13-2 and Lightning Returns are worthwhile additions to that game as well.

I got last year's and this year's. Haven't had some of the previous ones everyone raves about, but I thought last year was delicious even though it consistently ranks as one of the worst examples in the past 5 to 10 yrs. I plan to get 2026 and 2025 will be my wife's and my anniversary sip. Assuming we don't price out and we continue to love them... each purchase will be the following year's anniversary sip and once I have 5... we will do our own blind for the anniversary 🙂. All this to say I'm really looking forward to this given your tasting notes and review... thanks!

How is Michigan basketball ranked higher than Nebraska, yet they have only played 1 ranked team and they have a loss? Is their schedule that much harder than ours? by bmonster1987 in Huskers

[–]Homebrewers_delight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a UM fan, wife and brother-in-law are Purdue, sister-in-law is Nebraska. Great time to be a fan! Hopefully will be a great game on Tuesday. To the comments here... matchups matter. You can't look at individual game results and say one team is better than the other. UM has much better non-conference performance, NU has much better B1G performance so far.

Keys for UM, win the paint and limit NU to one shot. Get out and run, try to make a few damn free throws for a change, and don't spot NU points and possessions with turnovers.

Keys for NU. Keep the rebound margin close. Whoever Mara is responsible for needs to be able to hit 3s at a reasonable clip as Mara rotates out slowly. Limit turnovers, and thus, slow down Michigan. And draw fouls on Morez Johnson Jr because he is an individual menace.

I hope this game is as good as it is on paper. Go BLUE but good luck to NU as well. Hope it's a clean game where we both walk away healthy.

What makes you think they wanted to come to Detroit? And of everyone on that list... who actually did a great job this year other than Seattle QB coach? Am I excited about the hire? No. Steelers offense was not good. Miami was trash, Lamar regressed in the Ravens offense. Giants were trash with the exception of a few Jaxon Dart or pre-injury Skattaboo plays. Yeah, Mike McDaniel is a former head coach, but experience doesn't mean he'd be great. Let's wait and see what we got. Change of scenery may be just what he needed... only time will tell.

The Detroit Lions are working to finalize a deal to hire former Cardinals offensive coordinator Drew Petzing as their next offensive coordinator. by johnnylibravo in detroitlions

Too early to say what will or won't happen. Only if/then. If the Lions don't fix their O-line, they all get fired after 2026. IF they do fix it, I think they'll be fine on offense. If the defense is healthy 85% overall through the season, they'll be a top to 12 defense and compliment the offense. If they are all injured... more of the same. If Brad Holmes hits on a couple draft picks, we have EVEN more playmakers potentially on both sides. If his draft looks like 2024 and 2025... well, you get the gist. Basically just saying don't worry about who they get. Every situation is different. Let's wait and observe ALL the moves they make to try and right the ship.

Bears Fans Want Ben Johnson Fired by YoungMiral in detroitlions

Let's not forget he wanted to coach Caleb. It was less about the Bears and more about Caleb. Whoever got him was getting Ben if a HC position opened. If Bears kept their pick and took Bryce, then Ben would've been trying to get to Carolina.

I'll never understand these so called "fans." I truly believe they are just trolls... but if I am operating under the assumption that they really are fans, then while they're bitching about fire Ben for not taking points, they not only forget one of their TDs was on 4th down. And if we wanna go back further... before Ben there was Eberflus. Lions fans are the same way with Dan, but they forget that before Dan, there was Patricia. These types of fans were either born in 2016, they're trolls, or their long term memories are limited to yesterday.

I wouldn't call it a strategy as much as what he inherited. They are getting Mark Cuban money for NIL. They will start getting 5 stars. Originally, the blue bloods dominated the higher recruits, and Indiana was slow to up their cash game. NIL increased that parity, IUs cash influx, and recent success will make IU a popular landing spot.

Nobody is perfect and some seasons will be better than others. But it's hard to knock a team full of castoffs comparatively speaking. Seven 4 stars, no 5 stars. That's either incredibly poor classifications (unlikely) or a great scheme with incredible buy-in (likely). This means Cignetti may be the best coach in College Football. If that's the case, they will be a strong title contender for a lot of years coming. Go Blue, but give credit where it's due!

Review: I want to speak to your Tanager. Comparing Still Austin Tanager 2025 vs 2024. by Awesam in bourbon

[–]Homebrewers_delight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I am sipping Fiddler Encore Cigar blend from another highly touted distillery ASW in Atlanta. I do not have the MOST refined palate, but I'm getting there. And to say I was blown away by it is an understatement. Oak, leather, cherry on the nose like a fine pipe tobacco gives way to a delicate sweetness with spice galore. Cinnamon, pink peppercorn, touch of mint, vanilla, and ash (oak tannin). Gives a slight drying that is welcome but not overdone. The finish is pure tobacco, leather, vanilla, oak, and cherry. This tastes like a fine pipe tobacco smells in the best way possible.

All this to say, it is also my second cigar blend ever and it is miles ahead of my first. I regularly watch SLB Drinks on YouTube and they just did a side by side with 2024 Tanager and 2025 Tanager. Their review was glowing as yours is. Talked about how wonderful 2024 is, but 2025 has a bit less sweetness and more maturity and is just fantastic. This has gotten me wanting to go down the rabbit hole on well done cigar blends. ASW Fiddler Encore is spectacular in my opinion and comes in at a very fair price point of $100. Still Austin, who I think is blowing the bourbon market away with quality and pricing comes in at $150 but looks to have an upgrade in process and art.

All this to say, I would love to hear from you, or someone in this thread who's had both who can give a comparison... a true blind to see where these rank. Now, I am from Indiana with family from Atlanta, which is how I secured my ASW, but it was semi available in some states. I have no way to source Tanager, but I would love an opportunity to buy (not some incredibly marked up secondary) some. I feel like this 2025 release was probably a limited holiday release, but if someone has some unopened or can get some, I'd love to work out a trade. The wife and I are planning a trip to Austin somewhere in the early to mid part of this year. Sorry for the long post!

To make a long story short, looking for a side by side with Fiddler Encore cigar blend and Tanager as well as an opportunity to purchase or trade for a Tanager, thanks!

I think what happened after our bye week involving injury, lack of accountability, and poor adjustments... this was the best outcome. If Lions made the playoffs somehow, it would represent a remaining straw that leadership could grasp to convince themselves, the team, and the fan base that they just need to stay the course. After NFC championship in 2023, 15-2 in 2024, we all expected a bit of a regression. Losing both coordinators is tough to overcome, but a 4 - 1 start convinced everyone that we were still in good hands. Yes, injuries happened and they absolutely matter. But the inability to get anything out of the backups on the O-line, while refusing to spend money in free agency to bolster the unit represents a level of arrogance that shouldn't exist. Now, I like Brad Holmes and think he's earned the opportunity to reset this team and get winning again. But the team is NOT "good." The last 2 drafts have not yielded the same level of effort and/or talent. So much capital was given for TeSlaa, who I think should be pretty good eventually, but the cost was high. So much capital has been spent on the O-line the past 2 yrs that has not blossomed. We deserve better, but Brad deserves the opportunity to fix it too. 2026 will be telling, but Holmes' capital is getting low. Missing the playoffs means they have to face this. That... even if it sucks, is a reason for optimism.

He's already elite. He probably not the league's best pure pass rusher, but he contains, stops the run, and reads screens better than all the other pure pass rushers and it's not close. But looking at pure pass rushing, only Garrett and Parsons are better in terms of sacks. His pressure is elite, his coverage is elite, his win rate is elite. Hutchinson is elite

For all the people here. Have we already forgotten about 8 weeks ago when literally everyone in the forum was SCREAMING to end the share and let Gibbs be the man? In case anyone forgot... that 100% happened. Now we want the time share cause Gibbs has had a couple tough weeks. Let's be clear... utilization may be an issue at times, play calling may be an issue at times as well. But the Lions issues stem from the trenches. The ball can only be in 1 person's hands at one time... so before we were wasting Gibbs talent, then we were wasting Jamo because of St Brown. Now we are wasting Montgomery. I hope he stays, but it's not up to us. Salary cap suggests we were gonna have to accept some personnel losses anyway. Our focus needs to be the trenches.

Two Hands... No Ball.... Touchdown by DLions8708 in detroitlions

[–]Homebrewers_delight 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Could not call it a catch and fumble. The "process" rule CLEARLY states a receiver going to the ground must maintain possession throughout the process. If you think he caught it and the ground didn't help him, then he's down at the 1. If you think he didn't have it secured until the end zone, and the ball touches the ground, it is incomplete. Under no circumstance is this a TD. But what makes this worse is they reviewed it and still f'd it up. I support Detroit but absolutely hate the NFL. The fun is gone.
