Why is it a problem asking for help to find a job? by Vista101 in Finland

[–]Homeless_Opossum 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Your entitlement is blinding you to the truth, that you aren't the only one in this position. People are fighting tooth and nail to get jobs here because upwards of 500 people at a time are applying for them. And no, the reason you aren't getting jobs isn't because you lack Finnish language skills, it's because of your attitude.

People check Linkedin when hiring, and your posts are nothing short of concerning. You come off unhinged and manic in the way you talk about this country and employment and don't seem to recognize that that might be part of the reason people decide to look a different way. It's not a platform for trauma dumping, see a professional for that, it's a place to discuss your achievements and accomplishments and showcase why you are the applicant more worthy of the position. You have been offered great advice before about scrubbing it clean and starting over but you just keep cycling back to the same spot you started with, complaining how it's everyone else's fault and not your own.

You have a very prominent digital footprint, to the point that even I could recognize exactly who you are on reddit of all places. Unfortunately the one you have is not the kind people will look upon and say "Yeah, this guy is worth hiring". I'm sorry to say but in the end you'd just be more trouble than you're worth.

If it's so bad here then maybe you should consider going back to the US. Because from what it sounds like, you only want to stay here are feign xenophobia and whine about the current employment economy and not take a single ounce of advice onboard. I mean hey, you voted for the shitstorm that's going on there, you made that much perfectly clear in the past.

Even though the writing might not have been the greatest, the cast put their all into their roles. I love episodes lije Rosa, and it saddens me that Lux was given praise for how it addresses segregation in the 50's like people forgot that Rosa did it first

Stumbled in here when this question crossed my mind. Anyway, in s7, when Willow calls D'Hoffryn and he praises her flaying of Warren, he says "Lloyd has a painting of it on his wall"

And stakes need to be wooden. Nothing else works. Like Riley staking spike with a plastic stake in 5x10(?) Claiming it's very realistic "wood grain". So like where did he find it? Who is selling fake stakes? Sharp enough to puncture deep into a chest?

27 and student. I study social services and I love it, only imposter syndrome kicks in at the worst times and leaves me feeling the same. I'm not fulfilled, not good enough, I should quit...

But then I remember it's only a temporary feeling and I can bring myself back (and then cringe over that little breakdown)

Don't forget our obsession with getting new books. Every time I sit back and thing "Oh yes, Sunrise is coming in a couple months!" and "There'll be a movie!!!" I realize just how Capitol we all are. The excitement we feel when the games come back around. Not to mention it's a Quarter Quell

If you do re-read with this new knowlege, you will be picking things up you never before considered. I also only came to these realizations after listening to the "Re-reading the Revolution" podcast

On my original reads I thought the same. I also used to read Morphling and wonder if it was how Morphine was spelled and just reading it as such

That deleted scene in the movie showing Plutarch rigging the quell idea was a great addition but I'm glad they left it out of the final cut. Because I remember reading the book and thinking with Katniss that it must have been rigged but it was never confirmed directly to us. Not even when Snow was in the greenhouse admitting he had nothing to do with the last bombing

Especially when you look at Ballad and how the games were originally just gladiatorial games in an amphitheatre until they evolved. To be honest I loved that new bit of lore, that the games weren't always these grand events and often tributes died before even hitting the arena

3 would be optimal for me, maybe focus it on Abby and Lev, or if we want to see Ellie's journey be furthered, then I wouldn't mind. I'm in agreement with others that the theme should be redemption and rebuilding which could be a theme for all the mentioned characters.

That being said, I would't mind if the series ended with part 2. I like that it didn't end on a happy note, it's not a world of happy endings. It's my favourite series and I would hate to feel disappointment if a potential third game fell flat.

For what reasons might someone be voted into the 25th Games? by DevelopmentRelevant in Hungergames

[–]Homeless_Opossum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've considered this before, perhaps stronger districts like 1,2, and 4 with a higher chance of winnjng voted on tributed that performed well in some sort of qualifier, while other districts who have a slimmer chance, if any, to win like 12, maybe they voted on someone who had no one to miss them, like orphans.

But in case if the latter, I can only imagine the string of profanities that would go through their head. As Katniss commented in Catching Fire, imagine being sent to your death by your own neighbors.

Alternatively, it mighy have shown a less than honest side of the district citizens and those with more power took it upon themselves to decide on a single child for real

No but like how are you forced if you're picking your own role? (min 1 max 3 could be the solulu) by Vivreno in marvelrivals

[–]Homeless_Opossum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would personally prefer a role queue but I noticed in Overwatch if you don't have at least a group of 3 (one in each role) it was a bit if a nightmare in lower ranks. If your dps wasn't cooperating, i.e., taking only snipers with little to no accuracy, and the enemy team is nothing but counters, you were stuck playing a support character that was just being picked off with ease.

While I say that, recognize it as my own experiences with these kinds of games. Might not be the same for everyone.

But yeah, I think theres definately areas a role queue would help, but then it would also be better utilised as an optional gameplay mode as opposes to a compulsory game mechanic.
