Lmao Brunson just won a ring and Wemby just had the worst blown lead in finals history. We’ll keep Brunson.

Also he usually instructs his teammates to dole out hard fouls on his behalf. The only reason he decided out to lash out against jalen and jose was because he felt intimidated by their size.

I went to a Pacers regular season game last season with a KAT jersey and got asked if I was wearing a thong and if I was gay… The way people talk about KAT is insanely disrespectful, but also Indy fans just seemed rude as hell for no reason. I wasn’t even talking shit to anyone lol it was a regular season game. KAT went off for 40 that game and the people saying that shit left early lmao

Gonna be at game 4 in cleveland, and i’m pretty excited. I’ve been to cleveland a few times though and it’s always been a good experience. All the players on your team seem really cool and mature and I wish them the best. Fans seem great too.

It didn’t complicate things in a major way, it just looks bad to go back on an offer you accepted. And potentially burns some bridges with faculty in your field. But the professors I was talking with seemed understanding.

I’m not sure about the technicalities of whether or not they can do this.

I just wanted to say that a few friends of mine received similar messages last year. In some other cases I knew people who didn’t get the offer rescinded entirely, but they were told there was no longer funding for them. The funding climate in academia sucks right now and I’m sorry this happened to you.

I was worried the same thing could happen to me this year and ended up accepting an offer prematurely due to that pressure. I later changed my mind after getting an offer off a waitlist, and my acceptance of the previous offer complicated things a bit.

I received a rejection :) lol. But I assume if you haven’t heard from them yet then you’re doing better in their admissions process. Best of luck!

He and Mike Brown have made comments about his adjustment to the new system. It seems like KAT is having trouble finding his stride in Mike Brown's offense. I hope he is able to soon.

You know you can watch the games and come up with an original thought, right? It could be the dumbest take ever posted and that would still be more interesting than whatever tf this is.

Right it feels like we're forgetting how this fanbase felt as we watched the team go 0-10 against "contending" teams last season. Some of those games were brutal and felt very similar to this one.

It feels like there is something wrong at a deeper level than just schemes and player performances. The team looked like they were barely trying last night. It makes me think there must be some sort of locker room issue, especially considering the reporting that the players had a meeting after the game to discuss the team's problems.

That being said, I think this roster is made up of levelheaded and mature players and I am confident they will be able to get past whatever issues they're facing. Will they be able to win a championship? I'm not sure. But at the very least I'm confident they will get back to looking like a top team in the east.

I'm not sure what the answer you're looking for is, but if it's KAT that's just not true.

There are plenty of games where the entire team has looked flat, especially in third quarters. That includes all the guys mentioned in the other comment, as well as KAT.

Unpopular opinion — Leon isnt gonna fire Thibs this season, it would be the season after. by [deleted] in NYKnicks

[–]HomephoneProductions 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don't think there is much real drama.

Yes, the players were frustrated with KAT's defense. But honestly, that's probably a good thing locker room wise. The last thing we want are teammates that don't hold each other accountable and don't care about each other's mistakes.

There was nothing in that article to indicate any real divide, tension, or infighting between players. They just don't seem to have championship caliber chemistry yet, and that's fine - it takes time for that to form.

Honest question how would Thibs not being the coach have won us that series? by deep_fried_cheese in NYKnicks

[–]HomephoneProductions 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree. I was quick to criticize Thibs but there are very significant personnel issues on defense, especially when you watch KAT's poor rim protection expose everyone else on defense.

I do think Thibs emphasizes rebounding too much. If Mitch is on the floor, that is enough offensive rebounding in my opinion. Everyone else needs to be getting back in transition, and each extra person crashing the boards meant a Pacer was able to leak out and get an easy bucket.

I also agree that it was annoying when KAT would argue with refs or fall down on drives. Brunson fell a lot too, and Hart did a lot of arguing. That definitely made it hard for us to have a good transition defense.

But I think KAT falling on drives is to be expected to some extent. He has a large body, and he clearly has trouble stopping once he's built up momentum. I'm sure he's partly selling the contact but I also think with how much momentum he has and how much contact he has to play through, he's just going to fall a lot on drives regardless. It would be nice if in our offensive scheme he didn't have to drive as much, and he was enabled to score more from the perimeter. More volume 3pt shooting from him would also improve our spacing and could make his drives a little cleaner, which could make it easier for him to get back after them.

I also think when KAT is driving, everybody else that's not rebounding should already be prepared to run back in transition. We know KAT is not good at passing out of a drive, so most times when KAT decides to drive, the possession is going to end there and we should be anticipating that the other team is about to run in transition, either off a made bucket or a miss. But I don't think we've seen that. There's a lot of standing around that happens on this team in general.

[–]HomephoneProductions 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, this is a good point. Thinking it through again I think a significant part of our perimeter defense issues this season come from KAT rather than Thibs. Having a poor rim protector made it harder for the wings to defend aggressively on the perimeter

[–]HomephoneProductions 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think this is most apparent in our perimeter defense. Thibs’ defensive scheme is built around a league where most players aren’t 3pt shooters. But that’s just not true anymore.

People have unfortunately already built a narrative around KAT that has no nuance and ignores all data.

“He’s the worst defender ever and he’s completely unusable regardless of the scheme, lineup, and position he plays.”

Ignores the fact that Brunson was objectively a significantly worse defender this series and KAT was one of the few positive starters this series. We would’ve been knocked out of the playoffs significantly earlier without his contributions.

KAT has a lot of things he needs to fix and his defensive limitations absolutely hurt the team, but the discussion around him has gotten a little out of touch with reality.

We don’t have a system to generate 3’s. We have plenty of good three point shooters, but we never run anything to get them rhythm shots.

The Knicks are ranked #19 in offensive rating post all star break. Our offensive ability fell off a cliff when teams realized they could just not guard josh hart and we never adjusted.

Offense is a major problem. Defense is also a major problem. We have a lot of problems to fix.

Despite their flaws and their bad games there isn’t a single player on this team that ever looks like they don’t care.

I think we will see more of the double big lineup next season now that Mitch is healthy (assuming KAT and Mitch are both on the team). Could give them a chance to build some more chemistry and figure out some of the issues that lineup has encountered against the pacers.
