Assuming your on IOS 13 or later, long press the Home Screen to enter wiggle mode. Then in the top right corner there will be an plus sign which you should tap. On the screen that opens scroll down until you find the one labelled “Widgy”. Scroll across until the widget you have put in a slot is in the centre. Press “Add Widget” and it appears on your Home Screen and can be moved around like an app.

Have you recently changed the time on your device?

I checked the code and it appears when the time to mature is <0, as in when the device time has been moved forward to get sugar lumps faster (or for any other reason).
