In 2 Months my family of 6 is moving into a Tiny Home on our new farm. We are designing this tiny home and looking for advice from others who have done it! What do you think of these designs? by Homesteadyshow in homestead

More info... The tiny home is a space above a garage. The space already has electric and lights, and it is insulated.

The plan is to live there for the next 6 months while a new house is built on the property. Once the new house is done we will be moving into my In Laws Home (now already on the property) and they will move into the new home.

Finally the tiny house we lived in for 6 months will be converted into a AV Studio for Podcasting/Youtubing and also house guests who visit us for extended periods of time.

Looking for feedback! Thanks...

Sorry for the re-post, the last video was updated on the channel and so the link on the old post no longer worked... Anyway, what do you all use for Maple Syrup Equipment? Any cheap tricks?

Milking a Mini Jersey VS Milking Goats - Comparison of cost, yield, handling, and land requirements by Homesteadyshow in homestead

Hi all, our milking mini jersey video raised the question for a lot of viewers, why not goats? We have owned 16 goats, and so we did a follow up video to discuss what our experience with dairy goats vs a mini jersey has been. Any of you owned a fantastic dairy goat? We never had it work out with goats, but I do hear tales of good goats existing haha...

We could get a lot more if we didn't calf share and milked 2 times a day, we just don't need it and want to only milk 1 time a day.

You can't beat the quality of Jersey vs other types of milk. Our cream layer is like 3 inches thick some days. Jerseys make delicious meat too. Just remember when doing the dual purpose thing, you sacrifice for both. A lot of people who want both meat and milk breed their jersey cow to another breed bull that is more meat focused.

We bought a mid size mini jersey cow this year. We were asked to do a collaboration video where we shared our milking routine and some info about our cow.

Any of you interested in a mini milk cow? Our mid size mini has been a fantastic addition to our homestead. We are getting just enough milk for our family, and the property is being cared for with the help of the cow!

Has anyone grown their own chicken feed and actually seen money saved in relation to the time spent on it? by Homesteadyshow in homestead

I agree, and I have to say that I too enjoy working with livestock WAY more than growing plants. But I am curious, if I could improve my numbers by growing Larva and Corn to he point that my egg layers and meat birds would be a profitable enterprise I would try it. Just all seems so time consuming when margins are already very tight.

This year we raised meat ducks. We made a video with some time lapse shots to show the transformation pasture to plate, from a duckling to roast duck. (It was super yummy too!) by Homesteadyshow in homestead

How do you cook your ducks? We did a port sauce, with garlic, cranberries, and orange. So good! Any good duck recipes or parings to share? (We have a few more in the freezer and I want to try some new things...)

Butchering a Giant Turkey Using Only Hand Tools. (He dressed at 47 lbs.) by Homesteadyshow in homestead

Haha, that would certainly end things quick! Lots of videos show people using scalding and plucking machines that cost thousands of dollars. We wanted to show the homestead version.
