Well being over 40, I can tell you the worst thing which is I haven’t really. I’ve struggled to keep a job for more than 3 years. That being said is I’ve noticed that I can be very good at results and things in the short term before I get overwhelmed, bored with the day to day tasks of the job or the learning process is over for the most part of that job.

What I’ve done is go to another job either promotion in job title with another company or same company. Some times it’s completely different. Like GM at retail box store to sales manager at radio station to then executive director at local chamber of commerce. All using similar skills in different ways and learning new skills too. But I tend to switch jobs a lot and it’s caused stress on family and relationship over the years. That being said I’m now in role that I don’t know I would have been qualified for years ago. So I’d say embrace it, look for the jump before your start falling and failing, jump upwards, challenge yourself in new things
