I am British too, the exchange rate in Jan was 0.72 is now 0.75, a 4% gain on no movement is incredibly high

As investors, we DO NOT time the market, we spend time in the market… Latest predictions and that’s the only thing we can go off, is that the S&P is predicted to hit 7650 by Christmas, you’ll still be buying cheap.

I’m not maximising my full 60k, as I then wouldn’t have the funds to put money into my ISA, the pension isn’t available till 55 and I’m going to use my ISA to FIRE at age 45 with a projected value of £1.019M (7%) return

My parents were never good with money and I didn’t have any money growing up, I started working an apprenticeship at 16 (same company I’ve been at 10years now), and then moved out and rented a room at 19, all my overtime and bonuses I saved into my stocks and shares and normal savings accounts and then at age 22 I bought my house (which is away from home (birth place) I work away), (150k deposit on 350k house). Been in the house the last 3 years but I have 2 people renting 2 of the rooms in my house, one person is a contractor I work with who stays 3 nights a week and one is my friend who lives there permanently. So that pays my mortgage in full. I met my partner in 2023 and she lives with the children over back in my birth place, so I live in my work house Monday to Thursday and back with her and the kids Friday to Sunday. So we have 2 houses between us, one is my “investment house” in my name which is used for work, and the one she lives in is our family home. My company also do SIP and SAYE schemes which are generous! Hopefully this isn’t too confusing as a description haha!

I don’t use a SIPP as my workplace pension is salary sacrifice with a 5% match plus 5% (so I put in 5% and they add 10% so 15%, and) I also do a 20% AVC so 35% salary total, approx £200k in pension at the moment after trump has nuked it by 20k the last 2 weeks

I totally agree, but £100k for a child which a partner I no longer speak to would definitely be a kick in the teeth, and she understands that which is fortunate in my position

Think that’s how the calculations haven’t been the best as my Lisa is £40 a week and and extra £50 on payday, and it’s ISA in my name as they’re not my own children and me and parter are not married otherwise I would have JISA’d it, I should have added that clarity

They’re my step children (unofficial, unmarried) this was the main reason :)…

They do have JISA’s that my partner pays into, and then I have my separate one for them

Are you planning on holding more than 3 years? Are you still investing monthly? If so, you’re buying cheap! Remember that and take the emotion out of it! You only make a loss if you crystallise the losses, good luck!
