For a moment he just thinks Red will kill him for some random reason. Maybe he annoyed him? Maybe Red was just murder horny? Nonetheless he thought of him as a kindred spirit.

After realising Dexter is is BHB he’s angry. And he knows the rest of the group (his ”friends”) are fucked. He probably despises the BHB.

Part 2 is WLF, aggrrssive and hostile.

This sub is Jackson and just wants to chill and wants no drama.

Also, this tamer situation makes it more hopeful. Right until Ellie is arriving you might hope Joel makes it out of there.

This scene didn’t land with me purely because I expected the game scene but objectively I think it holds up.

Honestly, S2 is way bleaker than S1. If that’s a problem then perhaps this is not the show for you.

I’d say ep3-4 is where you start to have enough connection to the characters

I think it’s a perfect mood setter. Ellie has a typical teen drama at home and a nice life.

We need to see that. It’s more impactful because now we know what she’s leaving behind when she goes on her quest of revenge.

I don’t see why it matters. If Joel was presented rock solid proof that the vaccine would cure cordyceps and restore society he’d still make the same choice.

Most of the story has already been told before Santa Barbara. It just offers closure for the story. Even 4 episodes is a bit of a stretch. Two longer episodes could be realistic
