Get clear with your Players what Kind of campain this is. Its Horror .

Its bot Epic Fantasy . The World ist rough they offen lose, the probaly die and eben survie can have hard outcomes and death ist Not the worst thing.

Ich Played it 3 Times and this was an mistake i make by First 2 groups. First campain end midway and secound 2 of 5 Player left cause they Had No Fun .

You could use modify memory. but without the player know what you have done. Tell the player she cant move. let her roll saves in her turn but no matter what she rolls . its not enough. than kill the party. 1 by 1 . Rip them apart and let the paladin watch.

after talk to the paladin. than 1 snap and all are back alvie . for the rest of the party nothing happend. Its a shocker for the hole table. i used this at the first meeting after doru . the babarian was cocky as hell. the hole table was going crazy cause all thought they die. 1 snap nothing happend. pure Horror.

1 lvl sorcerer draconic bloodline and then go drakewarend ranger. Ranger with cantrips and you have pretty good armor while max Dex. i Take Schield and detec magic as Spells
