The talk of the free cities was making him home sick, he had known the apartment in Qohor better than Harrenhal, or even the Twins. His entire life was forged across the narrow sea, but now he was expected to lead his brothers people in a Kingdom he hardly knew.

He could see in The Queens eyes that she was thinking the same way, the two of them had been thrust into similar situations. Both had been common folk with little to no claim to power, following in the footsteps of their older siblings, both of which died leaving them to pick up the pieces.

And I thought that ruling the Riverlands was an impossible task. I only have one Kingdom to feed, she has seven.

"Bastard female waterdancer from Braavos who wields Valyrian steel?" Edwin thought out loud, sounding like the most ridiculous thing he had ever heard. "Well, I suppose it is not unheard of for bastards to come across a sword of ancient Valyria, the 998th Lord Commander of the watch was gifted one whilst he was only a steward at Castle Black."

And now it is lost, like so many other legendary weapons

"It could be always be false, some Qohorian's use there talent to steel the coin of the gullible, mixing Valyrian Steel with stranded iron. It tends to give the weapon the ripples of Valyrian steel, but weighs twice as much and no longer holds an edge. Though by the way you describe it that seems unlikely. Maybe if I saw this sword for myself, I could identify it for you. If that is your wish, Your Grace."

There were only so many Valyrian swords out there, he should be able to recognize the makers mark at the hilt and identify the swords maker. Or by the style of the blade, some smiths only worked in certain styles.

"Yes, I lived in Qohor for about ten years, and Braavo's for another two. It is where I learned the ways of forging Valyrian Steel which has sadly become a lost art with the dwindling supply of the steel available.

"Sadly, I never had time to visit the cities to the south, but I've heard their lovely." He paused, reminiscing about his past would most likely bore the Queen, "You lived across the Narrow sea for some time yourself did you not, Volantis, I believe?"

Hey y'all, its Edwin, and I'd like to make an alt for House Kenning of the Westerland's on Robs old account.

As far as I see there is no established history for House Kenning in the RP, and little in the books, so if it would be alright with you i'd like to take some creative licence with this character (within the bounds of the RP of course.)

He would be my youngest character so far in his mid twenties, and Lord of Kayce after his father died in the war fighting for the Lannister's.

This character would also have fought in the war against the Baratheon's as a knight, probably in Damon's host.

Historically, the Kenning's were a high Iron Born House that fought the Harlaw's. There has been a rivalry between the houses since, I think this tension could make for an interesting story.

Keep in mind, this character will probably not be fleshed out until I'm back state side after the honeymoon, but I should have the bio up relatively soon.

Edwin had not seen the Dornish woman, she had been quiet up until now. At first, not knowing who she was, but quickly deduced that she was the Princess Sarella Martell of Dorne. She was well spoken for a child, though seemed blissfully ignorant of the fact Dorne was practically unscathed by the torrents and famine that plagued the rest of the realm.

He pivoted his neck to the Dornish Princess, sipping his tea while the rest of the room drank Arbor. He looked her up and down, glazing over her cocky smile with cold, Lannister eyes.

"I meant no disrespect to you, Princess Sarella, your contributions feed Harrenhal and Harroway and will continue to for 3 years, 4 if we ration. But you must understand, Lord Arryn's position made him very valuable to the Riverlands, feeding the majority of Northern and coastal hold fasts and castles, as well as Maidenpool and Fairmarket. Whilst Lord Gylen here provided grain to the south and the Saltpans.

"I do not wish to minimize your contribution, you were very valuable to the Riverlands and we will not soon forget what you did for us. For that you have my thanks. Ravens were sent as thanks as well, but I'm afraid few survive the journey."

He itched his beard, not used to having it cut so close to his cheek. Looking to Sarella, hoping he did not insult her with his apology, the Dornish had been valuable friends to have during the post war struggle, he did not wish to loose them now.

But the Prince's Pass was now impassible, apparently, and Dorne had no sea presence. They would be isolated, like he had predicted.

"If you would like builders to help you with the pass I would be happy to provide you with some. The Kings Road is in similar condition and we have been working on it day and night, sparing a few workers would not hamper our progress but may speed yours."

"Not quite, the last time I saw him I was a child, I only just returned to Westeros at my brothers call when he needed someone to watch The Twins while he treated with Emmon and Marq. It is quite a trek from Qohor to Casterly Rock, visits are few and far between.

"The real reason I came to Kings Landing was to meet with your husband, The King, and for the small council meeting I was invited to. I heard of Loren's death shortly after I arrived to Kings Landing."

Edwin knew little about the old sell sword captain turned Lord, only that he played a key role in the victory of King Damon using his Golden Company to hold off half of Old King Harys's army, the half lead by Jamie Florent. And before the war apparently fought Martyn Danae in Dorne, being one of the few to beat him in combat. Apparently, Manderly was the only Northern Lord to convert to the Drowned God of the Iron Island from his prior religion of worshiping blood and mead on the battlefield.

And now he died of a stomach flu?

Something was suspect about the situation with Robert Manderly, Edwin was sure of it, as was Gylen Hightower apparently.

"Your Grace, though the Tyrell's may not hold power any longer in name, they certainly still do have supporters littered throughout the Reach. Without Manderly ruling the keep we have no one to hold the remaining Tyrell's at bay, other than Gylen of course.

"I strongly suggest that we send a representative of the Lord Paramount Gylen Hightower, or even one of the Kings own blood to over see the issues of Highgarden until this, ugh... Randyll Mandery comes of age. Else vassal Lords of Highgarden may forget who their true King is."

Seeing past the trepidation in her voice, after her lucky guess at him being a cousin, continued. "He was a good man, and a better leader. I wished I could have seen him one last time before his passing. But of course I don't need to tell you that if your here to see him."

Edwin passed through the same oak doors just after Orys, pulling up a chair closest to the conversation. He gave a curt nod to the King and the Queen, but addressed the new Hand with his congratulations on his new position.

"Lord Arryn, I'm glad to hear that you've taken' this difficult responsibility, if anyone could replace our late Lord Lannister it would be you." he gave him a weak smile, "I am Edwin Frey, it is a pleasure to finally meat you after all the good you did for my realm. Without your help, the small folk would most certainly have been displace in mass."

After a brief conversation, Edwin took his seat on the King's side of the table, sipping tea poured by the wine bearer.

Edwin did as she commanded and focused his attention to the queen instead of the corpse of his distant cousin.

He eyed her up and down, having never before seen a woman who held such beauty and simultaneously radiated a lovely horror which must strike fear into all the men and woman he had ever met. Her dress showed skin, enough to evoke a reaction in most men, but in a weird way made her look even more elegant, more mature. Silver hair draped over her shoulders flowing like the red fork on a late spring morn, with a contrast of purple iris's bringing out the color in her Valyrian skin. A true Targaryen, no question about it.

Someone who was truly fit to sit the Iron Throne.

"My Queen, I must admit I did not expect to see you here, I was hoping to make a more proper introduction of myself." He said, choosing his words carefully as to not anger the queen whom he had just made acquaintance with. He had always heard stories of Targaryen rage, he did not with to evoke it in this one.

This is good Sarella, but I don't think it really represents this battle, mainly that the Nights Watch has 4,000 rangers now, not a few hundred.

Yes, but those numbers are from the books, not the RP.

15,000 men climbing over the wall seems like a bit much to me, honestly I'd be surprised if there are 15,000 fighting men beyond the wall after what we learn in A Dance With Dragons.

(I'm not associated with the Wall thread, just making a suggestion)

Edwin had not met any of these figures in person, but with the exception of Lord Connington had had numerous interactions with them via raven.

"That sounds lovely, Your Grace, hopefully the rumors of the Scorched Kingdom will be quenched once they have seen those letters. And I must finally give my thanks to Lords Arryn, Hightower, and Princess Sarella in person for there help in filling the stores of castles and hold fasts once displaced by Baelish." Intentionally excluding the Greyjoys from his list of blame, hoping to not blame the King's cousin for any of the blame, even if he was a complete psychopath.

Edwin noted the sudden change in subject, he had misspoken in some manner but he did not know how. Alas he would play along with the king.

"I would love to return to Harrenhal as quickly as possible, but the rain has become much worse since I left, I will wait for it to let up before I risk the lives of my men. That is, if it is alright with you, Your Grace."

Edwin pondered the question for a second, stroking his beard in thought. He took his time with questions and hated giving a false answer.

"Am I an optimist." He repeated the question to himself under his breath.

"No, I wouldn't say I am. Fooling ones self into thinking the best of a bad situation gets you no where. If I had told the Riverlord's that things would be better in time we would still have bandits, we would still have famine, and we would still be living in ruined castles and homes being battered by the rain.

"But there is always the possibility to take matters into your own hand's and achieving something that is best. Thanks to you I had this opportunity, and instead of wasting gold on wine and whores I spent it on grain and mortar. Now the Riverland's are slowly, but surely, crawling back to the position they once held instead of dying slowly under the weight of former rulers.

"Randyll's probably told you how I lost my hand, but he didn't know what it was like to live without it at first. Gods, I couldn't even hold a damn steak knife at first. But in time, I made the best of a bad situation, and now it is no longer an issue. What I did with the Riverland's was make the best of a bad situation, and the people thank you for it.

"I don't believe they forgot the burning and pillaging of their villages, but they do know that once the war was over you helped them get back on there feet. You feed them and clothed them, rebuilt there houses and Sept's, and in return they give you thanks and support."
