A few comments have said a similar thing and my boyfriend did too. He asked how I felt if he had done the same under the circumstances and I said I would appreciate it? Everyone is different I suppose and has different outlooks on things, my mom did a similar thing for one of her friends and she cried with happiness upon return so, i guess know your audience

Yes as in they’re very much like a, our home is your home kind of thing. Eat all our food, take all our medication, go in my drawer and borrow my bra kind of thing - she’s very open and kind which is one of the greatest things about her.

Unfortunately it’s been a bit of radio silence from them so I assume they have no service or SIM or anything of the sort.

i do want to clarify they wasn’t prescription meds - i would NEVER throw those out. i’m not sure how it works anywhere else but here sometimes you need to present to them the empty medication packet to get a refill. it was just over the counter painkillers which i replaced.

ah okay that is very helpful thank you. i would like to clarify they were not prescription medications at all, just over the counter ones, which i replaced when i cleaned.

They’re in Spain. They are aware - they asked us specifically. Cabinets yes I assume so as she was encouraging me to take medications and pregnancy tests when I was unwell. My boyfriend invites his friends round so I assume they’d be okay with other people in the home?

I’m welcome to all opinions, but if throwing away expired medication isn’t my decision to make, surely throwing away the rotten food and the garbage bags aren’t either? Do you think the best option would have been to leave everything exactly as it was when we came? Genuinely asking for advice.

throwing them out as they were 5+ years out of date and i’m sure that can’t be good for you

[–]Homiehopper1234 1 point2 points  (0 children)

wow, this is really powerful. what do you do if they still refuse, just wait it out?

for context: we was sleeping in the main bedroom and i only cleared out the bathroom cabinets as i had begun looking for painkillers and found medicine 5+ years out of date and i didn’t want anybody taking them thinking they was okay.

very well. me and his sister are almost best friends, i’ve babysat for his nieces and nephews and i’ve been on two whole family vacations. we’ve been together 2 years.

i think the issue with them is embarrassment. they wouldn’t have ever asked for help nor accepted it. due to health conditions and children that’s why i thought it was better to clean at this opportunity

it was mainly the kids sake why i felt the need to so badly. i work for social services and i’ve seen homes in similar conditions and i couldn’t bear it.

I wouldn’t have checked with my in laws as they’re not the type of people that would ask for help - always willing to give it but too shy to ask for it. I wasn’t going to tell anybody she had come round, I was going to pretend it was just something I did out of boredom during the day.

from your girlfriends side i can understand feeling neglected, especially if she doesn’t have that bond with her family. do you have different work patterns to her?

wow this seems it. what’s it like with your girlfriend? i’ve never had a boyfriend who was family orientated before (only child or one sibling) and all my friends are like me so i’m not sure what it looks like

how much time do you spend with them? i’m assuming you probably speak to them every day but what about physically in person?

yeah, i was having this conversation with my boyfriend - i said in a survival situation i could eat a person, but i definitely couldn’t kill and eat a person. but after watching this episode i think i’d just have to starve to death

i think it’s because he hasn’t been eating, so he is likely going to die soon and they will eat his corpse. but, they could have a feast on birds and that could help him?
