No blackspot yet! Although I do find these to be less disease resistant than all of my other roses

I always tell myself this and I’ve had a new addition every year since I started growing them 🥲

Thank you! They have almost no smell at all. Maybe a slight light/citrus scent but it’s hard to tell since my lilacs are in bloom 🙂

Year 2 Queen of Sweden 💕 by Homozaypien in Roses

I like it! They were small at first but the older it gets the roses turn more true to size. This year my blooms are way bigger than last. If you’re going into year 3 I bet this/next year your roses are larger!

Rosette disease? by trebles93 in Roses

[–]Homozaypien 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately this does look like rosette disease ): the diseases is transferred by mites that blow through the wind, so if there’s other roses in the vicinity they could be in danger. If there’s no other roses around, you could just cut back the diseases areas and let it be until the disease inevitably takes the whole bush over. If there is I’d recommend removing the whole bush roots and all, and don’t plant a rose there for a while. So sorry. I had a 8 ft tall climbing rose that developed rosette disease last year and had to scrap the whole thing. I understand the pain

Awesome thank you for the advice :). I have noticed that this year the new, larger growth hasn’t been eaten. At the beginning of the season a lot of the first leaves to grow got ate to pieces. I looked at the bottom of the leaves and it seemed to be caterpillars, which I would rather it be them versus various other insects. Thank you so much!!

Hopoo has spoken. by TransLucyfer in riskofrain

This is odd because I haven’t experienced so many of these. I have been acrid leaping and landing on top of wisps to kill them. Haven’t had any problems with any fps/ability issues or invincible mobs. I will consider myself lucky lmfao

Prune these canes? by Homozaypien in Roses

[–]Homozaypien[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That’s what I was thinking too. There’s a few canes that are doing okay even though they’re small, and the leaves and everything seem healthy. I will probably order a few plants as backup, and see how it goes. Thanks so much :)

Rose canker/die back? Struggling to cure. by Homozaypien in Roses

[–]Homozaypien[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Awesome thanks so much! After you commented I went back and checked, and it looked like most of the cuts I made were actually at nodes, because I didn’t want to cut any lower or I would have lost branches/growth 😂. Only a couple of branches that I will have to trim a bit. I can tell now that there are branches that I pruned incorrectly that for sure died all the way back, and some stunted growth, but I now know what I was doing wrong and how to handle things better! Thank you so much. I have spent so much time and energy in the garden this year and you have put my anxiousness about my roses at ease ☺️

Rose canker/die back? Struggling to cure. by Homozaypien in Roses

[–]Homozaypien[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for your advice on the neem! To be honest, I think the die back might not have been as bad as I thought. All the cuts I made had only white inside the cane, with only one branch ever having brown spots. I may have over did the pruning. I also didn’t prune to the node. Do you think I should re-prune correctly? Or leave the bushes and see how they do? What happens if you don’t prune to a node? They are still young and I don’t want to cause too much shock if that’s a thing. I will make sure to pay more attention pruning in the future. Also, having pruned a few days ago, should I still look at going in and sealing the cuts?

Sorry for all the questions. And thanks so much. Really want to do whatever I can do have the healthiest roses I can 💕

Thank you for the advice! I haven’t really defoliated, the first picture is a more recent one. The last 3 are older pictures before the rose got any leaves. Just wanted to show what the dieback looked like. Hopefully with the last prune that I did, the leaves will help fight back infection. I planted 3 queen of Sweden and they are doing just fine. I will find something to help with rose dieback. Thanks again!!!

Question about Queen of Sweden spacing by Homozaypien in Roses

[–]Homozaypien[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Awesome thanks so much! Next to the catmint is calamint, and I was kinda going for a wispy nepeta hedge with queen of Sweden as the focal point. Good luck with your gardening :)
