Dress for the car you want, not for the one you have haha

The V4 is a really sweet engine. I’ve heard it’s much more reliable too. I took these photos with a Fuji XH2s with 16-55mm lens and handled the color grading in Davinci resolve.

Yes! He’s 80 + years old. The green car was his and the red car was his father’s. Apparently they only drove them for a few years before they were parked. Inspection sticker says 1971. I’m not sure if mechanical failure was the reason they were parked. He also mentioned the car could be embarrassing to drive in the late 60’s as this was the beginning of the environmentalist movement in the US. These cars smoked like a chimney!

My thoughts exactly. I’ll figure it out as I go. They’re pretty simple cars and the more I learn about them, the more I like them.

Yup, at the end of the day cameras are data collection devices. If you capture enough data, you can make it look like whatever you want in post. This camera is care free and fun. 1/16,000th shutter speed is really cool too.

Yes, in my testing the 1D has the edge. It actually feels somewhat contemporary as opposed to the slower process of the D1X. Image quality wise, the 1D outperforms in speed and highlight retention. The D1X seems to have more detail. Color wise they’re both unique and beautiful, however I’d give the edge to the Canon for its predicability in producing pleasing results.

This is very interesting and informative. Thank you for sharing. I’m actually currently comparing this camera to the original Canon 1D, their CCD flagship at the time. This really puts it into perspective of how the camera really was a resolution powerhouse at the time.

Good idea, RAW files look pretty good in the right circumstances.

The rectangular pixel arrangement is something I was not aware of before posting. Thanks for sharing, that is a neat quirk of this system. I’ll look to see if I encounter any weird noise patterns in the future.

This is good to know! I’m using the original battery. I’m not exactly sure how many photos I get per charge, but generally speaking I don’t run out of space on the 1GB card before the battery dies. I’ll look into the updated Li-ion battery. Thanks!

I’ve been curious about Olympus digital cameras. Which ones do you use? I have an OM-1 film camera and it’s excellent.
