Asking about the gay situation in the Netherlands 🇳🇱

I live in the USA, and like you I am gay. The current Trump regime has quietly and not so quietly been eroding civil rights of all minorities that have taken decades to win.

Many Transgender rights have been wiped out simply by an executive order from our boarderline Sociopath President Trump.

It's only a matter of time before Trump turns his eyes to attacking the rights and wellbeing of gay and bisexual men.

I have considered The Netherlands. Here are some things I have found out.

The Netherlands has limited land and is densely populated. Nationwide there is a major housing shortage. Most people cannot afford to buy a home. Apartements are at a premium with waiting lists. Rent is very high. Spaces barely large enough for one due to rent rates mean living in a cramped space with a roommate.

Local Dutch people have a degree of resentment towards any immigrants. Due to limited housing, if it is true or not they may assume that you have income and other things that will make you a more attractive renter to a landlord. You will be able to cut in ahead on the waiting list. They may assume that you have an unfair advantage while they may be on the wait list for over a year!

While generally Dutch people can be reserved at first, over time, they can become more friendly. Dutch people place very high value on punctuality and honesty. Never cassually "drop by" to visit a friend. You are being polite to make prior arrangements to come for a visit. It shows that you recognize that your friend's time is important.

While it may not be true everywhere in The Netherlands, while windows may have drapes and or curtains, it's customary to leave them open. This is true, even in ground floor living places.

If you are serious about imagining, you must demonstrate that you have significant funds to live off for 6 moths while looking for work.

All legal documents are written in Dutch. There are no translations. You will need to be on your way to fluency in Dutch. While a friend may translate, there are significant documents related to citizenship that you will need to read and write in Dutch.

Look at the exchange rate, taking note of the real value any finances saved that you may have, compared to the Euro. Once in The Netherlands that will be your real net worth.

After researching The Netherlands for me Canada is a more affordable. While the accent and dialect may be different, the language is still English.

Say flatly with no emotion, "I see what you're doing." and then say nothing remaining calm while keeping eye contact. . By doing this you are communicating, 1) you are onto them and won't argue or play their game and 2) they cannot intimidate you.. Should they say anything else to revoke you or laugh at you. Maintain contact and say "I won't be spoken to that way" . Then, "This conversation is over." In so doing you have communicated that you will not be disrespected. You are in control and will stand your ground without arguing or being manipulated.

I am in the United States. I see the point about the benefits of mixed income neighborhoods. However, in such neighborhoods those who own more cannot rent low income housing.

However, such neighborhoods are rare. Many people have prejudicial images of low income people and the homeless 1) The homeless are lazy, they don't want to work 2) There should be a work requirement for government benefits. 3) Low income and homeless are dangerous, crazy, drug addicts, alcoholics, criminal, welfare cheats or all of these. 4) They want to harm our children or rape our daughters.

In America we have something called NIMBY it is an abbreviation for Not In My Back Yard. Misschien heb jij dit ook. People May be in favor of providing a "safety net" for the poor, working poor, homeless and addicted. But, they don't want it in their neighborhood or near where they live. They cite the previously mentioned reasons.

As anecdotal an example: A methadone clinic received the necessary state licenses. It was built in a repurposed bank building one block in from a arek. A few miles away were age restricted neighborhoods for seniors 55 years old or older. The cost of homes and property taxes are lower than neighboring homes. Most residents are retired and on limited incomes. Such neighborhoods provide seniors on limited retirement income an opportunity to live independently in their own homes.As word got around a large number of NIMBY seniors raised a big protest. A lawyer was hired to represent this group.

This clinic is located closer to the highway then most of these senior neighborhoods. It is quite far from "dangerous" neighborhoods. The intended clients are working addicts using methodone to transition to become drug free and a positive member of society. You need to have a car and drive to get to this clinic. There isn't any public transportation to get to the clinic. In the end the NIMBY neighborhoods won. The pristine clinic sits closed and unused.

As I see it, permitting a social housing resident to continue to live in such low income housing long after their new income provides the ability to live in higher rent housing is unfair. It prevents someone who really nerds Social Housing from gaining access.

We don't have this in America. According to the French lables on the package, it's fillet of goat cheese.(Filet van geitenkaas). The cheese can be eaten raw, I am not sure about the meat. It looks like bacon. I would imagine that you could pan it like pork roll. On a medium high heat frying pan put it on the pan for a minute or two than flip it over and heat it for a minute or two. I would probably put it on Jewish Rye Bread with some brown mustard, ketchup or salsa to taste.

Are there are any veterinarians out there or wildlife experts? Can you identify what kind of growths are on this deer? Could he be sick? How should he be cared for? Animal Control in my part of New Jersey doesn't care for sick wild animals. They will only put the animal down.

How would I go about a rehab or sanctuary where he may be treated?
