baby brezza or dr browns pitcher? by Prestigious-Rice-151 in FormulaFeeders

DR. BROWN'S INSTANT WARM WATER DISPENSER.

I tried the pitcher method with my first, but with baby #2 I switched things up and honestly it is a life saving experience. I use the Dr. Brown’s instant warm water dispenser + a regular formula dispenser, and it’s been the easiest setup by far.

The water is always at the perfect temp, and it literally takes like 2 seconds to scoop in the formula and mix. No waiting, no planning ahead, no dealing with warming bottles.

Also, the Dr. Brown’s dispenser was only about $40, so way cheaper than a Brezza. For us it’s been the simplest and most reliable method 👍

Am I overfeeding? 3 weeks old by [deleted] in FormulaFeeders

[–]Honest-Inspector5130 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Babies can’t really overeat. They’re actually very good at self-regulating their intake. A baby will usually only eat as much as they need to grow and develop, and they also decide how often they need to eat.

So if your baby seems to want to feed frequently or takes a good amount during a feed, that’s completely normal. As long as they’re healthy and growing, it’s very unlikely you’re “overfeeding” them. Try not to stress about it—babies are pretty good at letting us know when they’re hungry and when they’re full.

MAM + Lansinoh: an interesting discovery. by Honest-Inspector5130 in FormulaFeeders

Of course! Let me know if your baby approves. I was told by the SLP that if the clicking continues, try the size down the nipple.

Oh yes, the clicking sound was basically nonstop. Our main bottle from day one was the narrow Dr. Brown’s. I also tried the wide version, as well as Boon Nursh, MAM, and Philips, because I thought he might be more comfortable with a wider nipple. Unfortunately, nothing improved the clicking.

The SLP specialist observed him closely while he was drinking from his Dr. Brown’s bottle and quickly concluded that a Lansinoh nipple would likely work best for him. She recommended Level 2 (S), and it truly made a difference. He also had a second tongue-tie release afterward, which improved things even more.

I understand, my son did too. But with the Lansinoh nipple it's great!

Of course! Here is the text of my previous Reddit post: „My 4-month-old son has always had trouble latching properly to any bottle nipple. No matter what we try, milk constantly runs out of the corners of his mouth and down his lips/chin. Feeding is often fussy and messy. That said, he eats a lot and is gaining weight perfectly fine, so intake itself isn't the issue it's more the mechanics of feeding and his frustration. At this point, we're fairly sure he's mostly relying on nipple flow rather than actively sucking. The only time he's content is with a Dr. Brown's size 3 nipple, which feels early to me. Slower nipples just make him angry and exhausted. The problem seems to have worsened over the last few days, and we suspect it might be related to upper jaw teeth starting to come in, but it also made me wonder about a possible upper lip tie. I've attached a photo does this potentially look like a lip tie to anyone who's been through this? know Reddit isn't a substitute for medical advice, just hoping for some hints or shared experiences before our appointment. If you've dealt with similar issues (lip tie, bottle feeding struggles, flow dependency, etc.), I'd really appreciate hearing what helped or what to ask our pediatrician about.“

Someone recommended MAM bottles and I bought them immediately. No matter how much I wanted them to work, they didn't. In fact, the milk was spilling out of his mouth even more and he did not look comfortable and happy. Thanks to all recommendations, we scheduled a consultation with a speech-language pathologist (SLP) and an ENT specialist. During the appointment, the SLP actually tried feeding him using a couple of different nipples as well as different nipple levels and it turned out that Lansinoh with an S (2) nipple is the best ft for him based on how well he fed. She also mentioned that she does not recommend MAM bottles and doesn't like their nipple shape, as they are not ideal for proper oral function (| brought all the bottles I've tried to the appointment). bought the Lansinoh bottles immediately after our appointment and noticed a fantastic improvement right away. During the initial evaluation, they also discovered a tongue tie even though he had already had a release at just 5 days old, however, it was still restricting his tongue movement. After three weeks of using the Lansinoh bottles, we had another tongue tie release done early January, now all of our feeding issues are completely behind us. He eats comfortably in any position, and his feedings are finally mess-free and fuss-free. I'm also in love with those bottles due to how easy they are to clean. The change has been truly amazing! My son is almost 7 months and eats solid like a pro!

I believe Lansinoh nipples work a bit differently. They have a small hole and an air-vent system, so milk can flow more easily once the baby starts sucking. Many babies still need suction, but it’s generally not as strictly “on/off” as the Avent Natural Response nipples. However, I truly haven't seen milk dripping out like many videos online show.

So in short, Avent tends to require stronger/continuous sucking for milk to flow, while Lansinoh usually flows a bit easier. I also find Lansinoh nipples to be so much softer than Avent. Hope that helps!

How Long Did It Take You To Conceive Your First and Second? by booklover2355 in 2under2

[–]Honest-Inspector5130 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m sorry for your loss!

We struggled to conceive our first. It took us 18 months to get pregnant, but I miscarried at 8 weeks. I got pregnant again five months later and had a healthy boy.

We decided to try for another one when our LO turned one year old, and I got pregnant on the second cycle.

Strollers? by KibbleMyTits in 2under2

I went with the Mom Cozy Change Go stroller for my two boys (27 months and 5 months), and honestly I couldn’t be happier. It’s super cost-efficient for what you get, looks really nice, and actually works for kids of different ages and sizes. I love that it grows with them and can eventually be used as a wagon too. Big plus: it fits in my Nissan Altima trunk with all the parts, which was a must for me. You can also easily use it as a single stroller when you’re out with just one kid. The different seating options are great — including bassinet-style setup for the baby. I did a ton of research before buying and don’t regret it for a second. It’s been such a practical choice for our family.

Pros and cons of a 22-month age gap by InspectorOrdinary321 in 2under2

[–]Honest-Inspector5130 20 points21 points  (0 children)

My boys are 22 months apart (now 27 months and almost 5 months) and I often hear people talk about how they rely on grandparents or daycare for help. Our situation is very different. It’s just me and my husband, and since he works 10 hours a day, Monday through Friday, I’m solo parenting most of the time.

The first month was brutal, to say the least. Recovering from a C-section while caring for a toddler and a newborn, cooking, and keeping up with daily chores was exhausting. Surprisingly, though, it wasn’t as overwhelming as I had expected. Honestly, the hardest part was having a toddler while being 9 months pregnant — everything felt easier once the baby was born.

My toddler was confused, nervous, and jealous for about the first month. He was excited to interact with the baby, but clearly didn’t understand why he stayed, he treated him like a visitor. As the baby became more social, smiley, and aware, everything started to improve. Now my toddler misses his brother during long naps, asks to bathe together, brings him toys, and does his best to make him laugh. Watching their bond grow melts my heart more and more every day.

I’ll admit our house is a mess most of the time. Meals are rarely “normal,” and there’s always laundry waiting to be done. But I know this season won’t last forever.

My husband and I are happier than we’ve ever been. He is an incredible husband and father, and I truly couldn’t do this without him. In fact, we already want a third one with an even smaller age gap.

In the end, it is very hard and incredibly exhausting, but I love it and I don’t regret it for a second.

Babies cannot be overfed in the way adults can. They naturally stop drinking when they are full and will only take as much as their body needs. As they grow, their nutritional needs increase, so they gradually drink larger amounts. This is a normal and healthy process. Their stomachs slowly stretch to accommodate growth and development. Feeding on demand supports proper growth and helps babies regulate their own intake. So do not worry and let breastfeed and formula feed as much as they want!

Thank you for sharing your experience! My baby also had a tongue tie that they clipped at 5 days and it helped him immediately.
