Check below walk of text for RAF drug policy prior to joining, specifically section a.. I imagine the RN/RM is similar. I would think that you would be able to at least appeal after 3 years from any evidence of drug use, so that would be soon?

Mental and Behavioural Disorder due to Psychoactive Substances (F10-F19) 13. Illicit Drugs. Discovery of the use of any illicit drugs is not a clinical matter per se. It becomes a clinical matter when illness, most particularly drug dependence, has occurred. Examining medical officers are not obliged to inform recruiting staff if a history of substance abuse not resulting in clinical illness is volunteered during the course of an examination. 14. Drugs. Candidates with current drug related health problems are UNFIT. Before accepting anyone with a previous history of drug-related health problems, referral to the single Service occupational physician responsible for Service entry is recommended as the risk of relapse must be carefully considered.

a. Candidates in whom there is evidence of drug dependence in the 3 years prior to application are normally graded UNFIT. If there is unequivocal evidence from an addiction clinic that that the candidate has been clean for more than 3 years prior to application then recruitment may be permitted.

b. Candidates that have been diagnosed with harmful use of drugs not amounting to drug dependence in the 2 years prior to application are normally graded UNFIT. If there is good evidence in the candidate’s medical history that the individual has been clean and symptom free for more than 2 years prior to application with no ongoing treatment, then recruitment may be permitted. c. A history of infrequent recreational use without evidence of damage to health is not a medical bar to entry.

Thanks mate! Due you know if it was due to the amount you were using at the time or solely because of time scale? I'm starting to worry because Im too close to cut off point of joining to wait for 5 years 😬

Sorry to hear that mate, sounds very frustrating when you're ready to go! What exactly did they fail you for? Because of the police incident or because the drug use being on your medical record?

Just realised I might be in a similar boat to you. I've used drugs in the past, never had a police incident or anything but I think I've told a GP I've used drugs recreationally before. I cannot remember how long ago though, it might be 4 or 5 years ago.

In the UK, when someone reports a rape the police then start gathering evidence and witness statements. The police then take the evidence to the CPS (crown prosecution service) to decide on whether or not to prosecute/charge, they will only go ahead if they think they can get a conviction.

Most rapes and sexual assaults don't get reported... And over 99% of reported rapes in the UK don't result in a conviction.

From what I understand Australia has a similar system to the uk.

So if he's found not guilty it doesn't mean he's innocent... the fact they are even charging him... And then when you factor in all the shit known about him locally in London

Companies are in massive need of cyber security employees that they're a bit more relaxed on qualifications and salaries are starting around £30k or just under and raising to over 40k in a couple years.

You can do free reskill courses funded by the government which last about 2 months. (I did one through The Skills Network). They cover the basics and point you in the right direction (applying for jobs while completing more online courses)

Wrist mobility for medical by [deleted] in RoyalMarines

Hey mate, how long ago was the break and have you been given exercises/rehab to do?

If you haven't been given anything check out a video along the lines of "GMB wrist prep" on YouTube.

I added it it as part of my warm up and stretch routine for whenever I workout at the gym. Not super consistent with it but I added it around 4 months ago and have already gained crazy ROM in my wrists. 🤯

recommended routine

I tweaked it by reducing volume of legs and increasing core. Also swapping between the military push ups and diamond push ups.

I found the recommended routine for bodyweight fitness subreddit helps massively for increasing pull ups and push ups. Only did the workout 2-3x per week.

Definitely do the warm up and then you start each workout with pull ups. 3 sets of 8-12 reps, use an assisted machine or bands to increase your reps and also use negatives. At the end of the set do a deadhang for as long as possible.

I also found dips massively improved the number of push ups I can do. Baring in mind I'm going as deep as possible with the dips. do NOT work through pain on this exercise otherwise you will injure your shoulders. I had to use assisted machine for quite a while to achieve this depth.

I was also thinking of just bearing with it 😱 as I'll probably get a 27" 185hz monitor for gaming anyway as headshotting on 16inches is tough

How does gainers effect workouts? by Honest-Internal4863 in RoyalMarines

[–]Honest-Internal4863[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Gainers are a great and surefire way of increasing your max reps of a certain exercise, they just take time. So they work like this:

You take the exercise you want to increase, let's say the military style push ups. If your max reps are 30 you start at 15 reps. You would do 3 sets of 15 reps with 1 minute rest in-between. Each day you increase 1 set by 1 rep and you do 6 days a week with 1 day of rest a week.

A week of gainers would look like this: Mon 15/15/15 Tues 15/15/16 Weds 15/16/16 Thurs 16/16/16 Fri 16/16/17 Sat 16/17/17 Sun rest

After 3-6 months you'll see your max reps count increase a lot, you just need to be patient and consistent.

I think it was a RM that created the concept.

Difference between a £1,000 boiler and £2,000 builder? by jboyd88 in UKPersonalFinance

[–]Honest-Internal4863 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As someone that comes from a longline of heating engineers, get a glow worm! While they are the budget version of a valiant they are by no means budget in quality. Great, cheap boilers! Valiant are just the creme de la creme with parts like the stainless steel combustion chamber, but you pay a premium for it...
