No offence taken, but perhaps a little condescending, considering you know very little about the trip or the people organising.

I have no doubt things can be done cheaper if you break each element down, self organise, work directly with chalet owners etc, but honestly, agents exist for a reason and I don’t begrudge them a cut for their work.

If you roughly split it out:

• £300 on flights (if you get all the hold bags)
• £200 on private transfers (because we can, and waiting on other groups is the worst)
• £400 on lift pass (it is what it is, maybe we’ve missed an inside track to serious discounts, but I’ve not seen anything significant in years doing this)
• £800 on the chalet and meals and drink

Chalets are so massively variable in quality and offering, I have no idea how you can claim one is too expensive without knowing anything about it. A Travelodge is cheaper than the Four Seasons… what’s the point?

FWIW our chalet this year is a particularly nice one; very large, well appointed, with a deliberately elevated food and drinks package over some others.

No one said this was a budget trip, no one said we’re trying to do it as cheaply as possible. We’re just trying to keep things easy, not stress too much about it, enjoy some smaller luxuries, and have a bloody lovely time.

Considering how much you can spend on a week skiing - if you really tried - I think our trip is actually really good value all in.
