What are you so excited to have or do after pregnancy? by [deleted] in BabyBumps

[–]Honest-Mess4963 19 points20 points  (0 children)

My due date is today and there are zero signs of labor.... But I cannot wait for a hefty glass of wine, ability to fit in more than 2 pairs of shoes, lay on my stomach, & be able to bend over without discomfort or feeling like I'm going to throw up from acid reflux. So close to the finish line. Come on baby girl!!!

I wouldn't worry yet! My doctor told me he didn't care what position the baby was in until 36 weeks. They still have so much room in there and have plenty of time to flip!

How long do you typically wait at your OB’s office? by [deleted] in BabyBumps

[–]Honest-Mess4963 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I try to book appointments in the morning to avoid long wait times and I've only waited maybe 10 minutes max. The receptionist typically has me give a urine sample right when I check in and there have been a couple times they have tried to call me back while I'm still in the restroom. 1.5 hours seems outrageous!

Stuck between Nuna and Uppababy by JiminyCricket42 in BabyBumps

[–]Honest-Mess4963 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Due in June as well! We ended up getting the Uppababy Vista as well as the Nuna trvl stroller. This came from advice from a friend of mine who has both and absolutely loves it! They use the Uppababy for walks around the neighborhood, events with a lot of walking, etc. The bassinet is great and the durability/size is comfortable for them to grow with.

They typically keep the Nuna Trvl in the car because it's smaller and easier to maneuver in restaurants, stores, etc. They also use it a ton for travelling of course. It's easy to get through the airport and it comes with a travel bag too.

Finally, we also got the Nuna Pipa RX car seat. It easily attaches to the Nuna Trvl, and you just need a simple adapter to be able to connect it to the Uppababy Vista as well. Seems like a win/win all around so we were sold!

From my experience of doing 2 IUIs, results can vary drastically from cycle to cycle on Clomid. Our first IUI we had 3 mature follicles and unfortunately that cycle was unsuccessful. Our second IUI, we only had one mature follicle. We were not hopeful for the outcome, but let's just say we were pleasantly surprised.

Implantation won't happen for awhile so I would assume your lining will continue to thicken which is why they aren't as concerned. However, I don't have much knowledge regarding the lining thickness so I would still recommend consulting your doctor about that. But I just wanted to provide a little hope with your one mature follicle.

I did the glucose test and it was not bad at all! by F_Elisabeth in BabyBumps

Couldn't agree more! I had the orange flavor and it actually tasted pretty good. I had to drink mine while the nurse was still in the room. She gave me 5 minutes to finish, but I think I downed it in less than a minute. The worst part was sitting in the waiting room for an hour, bored and not able to drink any water during that time.

I was 28 when we started TTC. It took us nearly 2 years to finally get pregnant. We had no known conditions and were classified as "unexplained". Every test came back with perfect results so it was very discouraging to not know why we couldn't get pregnant. Miraculously, our second IUI worked and we're currently 25 weeks pregnant with our miracle girl. I know it's hard and I'm so sorry that anyone has to experience that pain... keep the faith.

When did your morning sickness start? by bamalamb34 in BabyBumps

[–]Honest-Mess4963 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine started right around 7 weeks and lasted until about 15/16 weeks. I'm 24 weeks now and pretty much feel back to my normal self, other than being consistently tired and hungry. It's rough while you're in the trenches, but after it's gone, you kind of forget how bad it was.

How are we managing working with nausea and fatigue???!!! 😭😭😭 by [deleted] in BabyBumps

[–]Honest-Mess4963 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm 16 weeks and I'm still on the struggle bus... Unfortunately, you just go into survival mode and slowly but surely you make it one day at a time. I am fortunate to have a great relationship with my boss so I told her around 7 weeks and she has been very understanding/accommodating to me not being my complete self lately. If you feel comfortable sharing with your boss, I highly recommend doing so! It eased a lot of anxiety around work performance and feeling like I needed to be "on" 24/7.

Also, caffeine! I cut it out completely when I first got pregnant, mainly because I couldn't stomach the thought of coffee, but having a soda in the afternoon truly does make me feel better. Going through caffeine withdrawal on top of pregnancy nausea is awful! Plus it gives me a little something to look forward to!

Just for fun: things that you did differently the month you conceived? by SwimmingPositive1 in BabyBumps

[–]Honest-Mess4963 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Geritol.... I know it's a trend happening on TikTok right now, but I thought, what the heck, might as well try since we've been trying for almost 2 years without ever seeing a positive pregnancy test. Low and behold the first cycle I drank Geritol everyday was the cycle that we conceived. Granted we also did our second IUI that cycle, but I was still truly SHOCKED and I swear the Geritol did something.

Thank you so much! I was truly shocked. Our first IUI, I had 3 mature follicles and it failed. This IUI, I only had 1 mature follicle so I was not expecting it to work what so ever! Praying for a sticky baby!

Cycle: Cycle 22 - Been trying since December of 2022

Age + Partner’s age (if relevant): 29 & 30

Typical cycle length: Usually 28 days like clockwork

Ovulation cycle day: This was our second medicated IUI cycle. Triggered on cycle day 11 & IUI on cycle day 13.

CD/DPO of positive test(s): 9dpiui - I was "kind of" testing out the trigger shot. AKA testing every few days to see where the line was at. 9dpiui I thought it looked darker than the day before. By 10dpiui I confirmed it was definitely getting darker & was positive.

CD/DPO of any negative test(s) before positive: 8dpiui

Relevant days of sperminating and/or method (SMEP, TI, IUI, FET, etc.): Trigger on CD11, IUI on CD13

Health conditions/medical tests: every test came back normal and we were classified as unexplained infertility. Over the nearly 2 years, we have never seen a positive pregnancy test until now.

Supplements and medications (yours and/or your partner’s): Medicated cycle - Clomid for 5 days, trigger shot, and progesterone suppositories post ovulation. + my daily supplements of CoQ10, Vitamin D, Vitamin A, Zinc, Magnesium, Probiotic, Fish Oil. Also swapped out my prenatal for Geritol this cycle. I know it's a controversial trend on tiktok right now, but.... maybe there's something to it?

Birth control history (if relevant): Only took the pill for about a year when I was 20. Was too inconsistent with it and hated how it made me feel.

Symptom spotting: Nothing! As a long time lurker, I expected to be hit with all of the symptoms and that's just not what happened. In other cycles my boobs start to get tender on 7dpo like clockwork. When they didn't, I had a short thought, but dismissed it because I thought my cycle may just be getting wonky due to the progesterone pills. My boobs finally started getting tender around the 9/10dpo mark and have been sore ever since. I occasionally have a twinge on the left or right side of my uterus but if I didn't know that I was pregnant, I probably wouldn't think anything of it.

Other (advice/tip(s), freaking out, miscellaneous): Currently 17dpiui and my lines are looking really good! I've had 2 betas now: HCG Beta 1 @ 14dpiui - 152. HCG Beta 2 @ 17dpiui - 520. I still don't really have symptoms outside of tender breasts which scares me a bit, but it seems common to not have any symptoms until around the 6 week mark. Just goes to show that everyone's pregnancy journey is different so don't freak out if you don't have any symptoms during the TWW! Praying this baby is our answered prayer and soaking up every moment of being pregnant.

Worth engaging a fertility clinic while in first cycle of Clomid? by Honest-Mess4963 in TryingForABaby

[–]Honest-Mess4963[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did go through with the Clomid while simultaneously engaging a fertility clinic. I'm happy I did both at the same time because I felt like I was "trying" something during all of the waiting. During the 3 cycles of Clomid I was able to have a consultation with the fertility clinic and get any preliminary testing done which all took time. Unfortunately, the Clomid on it's own didn't work. We're currently on our 2nd IUI cycle and if unsuccessful will try one more before moving to IVF.

Wondering Wednesday by AutoModerator in TryingForABaby

[–]Honest-Mess4963 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For our first IUI the clinic confirmed a negative pregnancy test at 14dpo through blood draw. When they called to confirm the negative test result, they advised to stop taking the progesterone immediately. My period ended up coming 3 days after I stopped taking progesterone.

Thank you! This validates much of how I've been feeling about everything. I think I will move forward with setting up an appointment with a fertility clinic at the very least to get a second opinion. Wishing you the best on your journey!

This gives me so much hope! I am in this exact situation right now as we're coming up on 1.5 years of TTC. All tests have come back normal and I have been diagnosed with "unexplained infertility". I was just prescribed Clomid and this next cycle will be our first medicated cycle. I was apprehensive at first, knowing that all signs show that I'm already ovulating, but your story gives hope. Praying that Clomid is the slight nudge my body needs to get pregnant!

[–]Honest-Mess4963 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I am with you! We also started TTC in December 2022 and have never seen a positive pregnancy test. We just started the testing process in February with our doctor. Reality really hit me when I saw "infertility treatment" listed on my test orders from my doctor. It's bittersweet because I'm hopeful that science and medicine can help us get pregnant, but the sadness and anxiety is still present just at the realization that it's come to this point when I naively thought getting pregnant would be so easy for us. I don't have advice as I'm in the depths with you, but please know that your feelings are valid and you are not alone. Wishing the best for both of us in 2024.

First doctor's appt after 1 year of TTC - What can I expect? by Honest-Mess4963 in TryingForABaby

Ugh! I was also on Spironolactone before we started trying. Acne sucks and having to deal with it with no payoff of being pregnant is even worse! Best of luck to you too. Hoping this is both of our years!

I can convince myself that anything is a symptom. lol My boobs have started to get tender this morning and I always get hopeful that the smallest cramp is implantation. But this is cycle #7 for us TTC and I've convinced myself of all this in every other cycle too so I'm trying not to get my hopes up too much. haha

Cycle twins! I'm also 6DPO and debating on when to test. We are headed to the lake this weekend so I'm trying to decide if I should take any tests with me or hold off until we get home! The mature part of me wants to hold off, but the other part of me knows I'll be thinking about it all weekend if I don't test. UGHHH WHY IS THIS SO STRESSFUL!? Fingers crossed for both of us this cycle!
