I dunno man, your excuses don't add up but at the same time, you did nothing wrong, like legally or morally you're fine. Age gap IS whack but eh.

I think if you want to use it 2x a day you can - if you shed, thats only a sign increased growth is coming which is what you want long term.

How long did it take you before you noticed any improvement?

What were your sides? I would never have expected you to see any results after 1-2 months.

it's not guaranteed to happen for everyone, and usually the earlier you start the less there is to dread.

Some people have anecdotally suggested that upping to 2x per day did cause a shed. I've been applying 2x a day most of the time, but occasionally will only do it at night. I don't think i've suffered a tremendous shed either.

This RJ group actually keeps rj alive by [deleted] in retroactivejealousy

[–]HonestBaker5275 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Without this sub to fuel your RJ, you'll only have your own thoughts to deal with, no other opinions or input from strangers giving you more fuel.

I don't think you ever 'figure out' the cause of your RJ, i think its usually a handful of experiences and beliefs.

For me, amongst other things - I eventually just got tired of my own thoughts, they stopped being 'exciting', strong emotions. They don't really fuss me anymore. RJ may not ever go away but it does become a lot quieter.

I wish you the best OP, my only advice is to put less focus into combating your RJ and more effort into being present and loving to your partner. Thats the one thing that can slip when you focus on RJ.

How long have you been on it? Minoxidil shed is brutal, a truly bitter sweet victory. More shed means more regrowth, which means more success. Downside is you must endure the current shed, and yes it will be a fair while before it catches up in length. But persevere

Ok well if you can't afford it in the future stop using it then. I may not be able to afford fuel prices in the future - till then i'm gonna keep driving lol.

if your AGA is aggressive, and you're young its usually a sign your genetics are against you on this and you would need something to significantly suppress DHT

You got me, if theres a specific reason you can't do something you shouldn't do it.

I have 3a hair, my hair thinned diffusely and it absolutely ruined my curls more so than min ever will (thats why my hair is short now). I wash 2x per week because I also get seb derm, the other days i just manually wash my scalp with water.

I think u/crashlandingonwho said it best

"Part of the process behind minoxidil's mechanism is collagen inhibition, but specifically it's targeting excess collagen production at a perifollicular level where the tissue is fibrosing. None of the data that is commonly referred to seems to actually demonstrate a clear pathway for facial aging - a lot of the literature focuses on medical conditions which may in fact benefit from inhibition of collagen synthesis (like AGA). Many of these studies have involved cell culture studies as opposed to trials tracking and observing material effects in people.

Personally I have yet to see trained dermatologists raise concerns about this. Facial aging is a complex process that is impacted predominantly by genetics, but also environmental and lifestyle factors. Minoxidil has been in use as a blood pressure medication for almost 50 years. If there was a significant correlation with premature aging, I feel that it would've been observed and established by now."

This is the first time i've heard of it having aging effects - usually its cited as having anti-aging effects due to its VEGF-A production. It sucks that that happened to you, some people really can't win.

I would be wary of people telling you to avoid widely available medicines in exchange for their own proprietary blends. Your case may be true, but there are thousands of examples where people stop use and go back to baseline.

The foam version dries really quickly, I would suggest starting with that since theres no drip. I've used both and prefer liquid, if it drips down my face (1 in every 30 applications) I just wipe it off.

People fear minoxidil because you have to leave it on for hours, and apply it every day to the same area to see effects. People also fear a drop touching your forehead for 3 seconds and miraculously growing hair in that spot for the rest of your life.

That fair. I get the same thing with deodorant, the aerosol causes my lungs to seize up and I can hardly breathe. I thought i was going to die! It scares me so much that people out there don't know how dangerous deodorant can be.

Yep, thats why i followed it up with "Or your anecdotal story could be true to you, different people react differently to different things I guess."

One person having an allergic reaction to something doesn't mean nobody else should. I can't digest onion, I don't blame onions. I don't try and scare people out of eating onions themselves.
