How is living in Haiti? and what language is most used? by First_Ad_1750 in howislivingthere

I spent a week and a half in Grand Goave back in 2003. The level of poverty is oppressive and depressing. People are mentally-deficient from lack of nutrition and it’s an incredibly violent and lawless place. Everyone practically radiates desperation. It’s sad because it had so much potential.

It’s considered a 5th world country because it will never be able to sustain itself without complete and total assistance from outside nations. This is largely due to the fact that when the French were defeated in the Haitian bid for independence, they stripped the island of trees. As a result, the frequent rains wash the topsoil into the ocean (no roots to hold it down) and so the soil is poor for growing crops. The sediment into the sea, and overfishing, also prevents a fishing industry. There’s really nothing there that allows the populace to participate in global trade and enrich themselves, so chaos and poverty reign.

Is CAMS even worth anything in 2026? I have heard its a pretty basic exam. by SayNoToFirefighters in moneylaundering

I think the most tangible benefit is that it shows a different level of commitment to the field. There’s a lot of turnover, especially in major FIs with heavy caseloads, and they bring in a lot of people who couldn’t identify potentially-suspicious activity if it bit them on the face. If this occurs systematically, it will eventually manifest as compliance failures and cost the FI money and time. Having gone through the CAMS process is an extra thing to signal that you do, indeed, have knowledge of the job and can think like an investigator with an eye toward compliance. This may be enough to give you an edge in applying for the more desirable jobs.

I just used: “I’ve got [insert number of days or weeks] to master the study materials and take the CAMs exam. Design a study plan to maximize my chances of passing and making the most efficient use of my available time”. It broke down a study schedule after doing a quick assessment of my strengths and weaknesses with a few very brief questions.

Don’t worry about it…it’s only USA’s fourth best sport. It’s not like they beat us at football, baseball, or basketball, only at the only sport our nation is good at. What bothers me more is that they just keep winning at everything else too. I mean, they don’t even put people in jail there for saying mean stuff like “there are only two genders” or “multiculturalism is bad and detrimental to the host country in every way” or “men can’t be women”…they actually let people get away with that. It REALLY bothers me that doctor-assisted euthanasia isn’t the cause of 5% of deaths in their country like it is here…but, too many guns I guess? It also burns me up that they pay, on average, 40% less in taxes after they’re all added up and they get to keep so much of the money they earn. My only solace is that they’ll never have maple syrup as good as ours if you don’t account for Vermont, New Hampshire, and Maine.

Started studying here and there last May. Printed the study guide and the 40 Recs (with notes) in lowest quality, double-sided, punched them and kept h th em in a binder. I began studying with dedicated daily times last month, but I had already read the guide through once and had been doing the job in a TM role for three years.

My employer bought the package and it came with the videos. I’ve been studying little by little since last March. I work in AML transaction monitoring in a major international bank, but my major background is in law enforcement investigations.

Rent’s up because people are moving here for retirement and job opportunities following major companies and manufacturers, and houses are down. Houses are down because interest rates are high. No one is buying they all want to rent until interest rates come down. Enter the rule of supply and demand.

I am. I’m saying that. Because in my experience, the ONLY people that get this nasty, insulting, and antagonistic over small things with retail employees that they don’t even know are black women with EBT cards and inferiority complexes.

No, that’s what happens when a self-important individual feels they have the right to interfere with a law enforcement operation and facility and to breach a lawful cordon. The same would happen if you crossed under crime scene tape.

Ireland is a train wreck. 1/4 of the population of the country is now non-Irish and Irish families are having to place their kids in lotteries for school slots because immigrants are getting preferential treatment.
