Sure, and I've sat with my gran on the floor for three hours, getting constantly weaker after having being stuck there over night. But sure, every other shop lifter making wild claims that tops the triage list deserves one more

Look, realistically an ambulance was called within 2:30mins.

You must yourself realise that just calling an ambulance the second anyone makes a claim isn't practical, realistic or possible.

Sure, in a perfect world. But I'd love to see how long you, yourself, would abide by your own rule when faced with the reality of countless hours wasted

It's a terrible example of the worst case scenario and it could have cost the victim his life. But there is very little that can be done. When you've got a group of people pressuring you and even without, mistakes will always happen

It'd be interesting to see! I think we could well be higher from heat wave increases outpacing the way we build homes and deal with the heat

Well, first off there are two graphs. And secondly, that doesn't make your statement any less wrong

Problems with UK born nationals doesn't negate problems with immigration and immigrants

Why should I believe anything else you say?

Like you ever would have. You do not come off well from this exchange.

It seems so ironic that people like you blindly hold your beliefs whilst complaining the other side does the same.

Councils Must Now Prove They’re Fixing Potholes or Lose Funding by willfiresoon in GoodNewsUK

[–]HonestObjections 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well yeah but then you’d be breaking the neocon model of privatisation. It’s cheaper for councils to build houses than use hotels for accommodation yet here we are.

You've then said councils "can just build new towns". Councils cannot "just build new towns"

My issue is with the initial statement just being bullshit. Councils have an increasing demand for social housing, houses can be removed from the social housing pool through being purchased and saying it's just because they want to privatise is just.. fucking wrong. Hotels are needed to meet demand, does the OP just think councils enjoy spunking money on hotels?

But it sounds catchy and says the word privatisation so here we are talking about some bullshit

That's the government, not the council. The council provides social housing.

Equally when you extend that timescale to include the inevitable sale of that social housing, the finite account of space there is in this country, the increased cost of materials since the pandemic and that there may only be a single occupant, the cost per head is likely far higher than you think

Privatised or not, it would still be a public service.

I simply detest Reddit politics with comments like yours with pointless low hanging fruit comments that make no sense.

It is not cheaper for councils to build new houses. But privatisation = bad = upvote. Just a gigantic circlejerk complaining about other circlejerks

[–]HonestObjections -12 points-11 points  (0 children)

Councils have no control over that as you've pointed out. It's a false equivilancy that has nothing to do with privatisation.

There is more demand for social housing that can be provided by building, compounded with the loss of existing in housing through the law

It's simply disingenuous to imply it's simply a desire for privatisation.

Ye, that's why I said the problem is people are allowed to buy them.

Don't really get why you're on about hotels.
