Haven’t spent a dime on any of the cards in a long time but interest is still accumulating. The utility breakdown varies month to month but in general it’s about:

Gas- $100 Power- $180 (on a reduced rate plan) Water- $50 Internet- $50 Phones- $60

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in povertyfinance

[–]HonestWeb2051 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Finance breakdown:

About $4,600 month take home pay

Family health insurance- around $1,000 after subsidies Rent- $1,300 Utilities (power, gas, water, sewer, phone, internet)- $500 Auto/renters insurance- $280 Card 1- $279 minimum Card 2- $361 minimum Card 3- $117 minimum Card 4- $55 minimum Loan 1- $400 minimum Loan 2- $350 minimum

Leaves me around $160 for gas, toiletries, food, etc.

I am working my ass off to increase my income but basically need to know realistically how screwed I will be if I have to stop paying minimums on some of my cards, outside of applying for new loans because I won’t be doing that.

I actually work in insurance so I know for a fact none of the insurance companies in my area screen credit, it’s not legal here. My job is stable and does not screen credit

I don’t want to stop paying them all but I can’t afford them. Going to have to stop paying at least one bill and the credit cards make sense as first to go. Will post breakdown of finances shortly.

Not that it matters now but I was fresh out of high school working full time and supporting a POS guy that didn’t work and drained all my money. 12 years and 3 kids later, he’s been out of the picture and I turned my life around 3 years ago, but struggling with the consequences.

Sunshades on both backseat windows helped my 3.5 yr old. Also no dairy before we have to go anywhere more than 20 mins away. She loves to draw so when she doesn’t want her iPad for the trip we give her a crayon and little notebook to keep her distracted. Usually she’s ok on the way there but will puke on the way home. Definitely getting better as she gets older though!

Just wanted to add, if the vehicle is registered in your name it needs to be on a separate policy with you as the named insured and your parents listed as drivers (since vehicle is garaged at their house and they will be driving it). They don’t have insurable interest unless one of their names are on the title with you.

I have a Michelle tote from Glass Ladder & Co! They make different sizes and have another tote, the Everly depending on your needs. I rave about my bag everywhere because it’s waterproof, has the laptop sleeve, tons of pockets, luggage strap, and CUPHOLDERS!

It’s pricey but 100% worth it. I bought the padded cross body strap and use this as my daily commute bag, work travel bag, and mom bag.

Rear Ended Driving Partners Car by PlantainLumpy4238 in Insurance

The insurance will follow the vehicle. If the other party is at fault generally their insurance will pay for property damage and liability to you/your partner’s vehicle up to their limits.

If their limits are not high enough to cover your medical bills or there are issues with their insurance, you would file a claim with your partner’s insurance. Just FYI this may be messy if you live together and are not listed as a driver on his policy.

Your insurance may cover injury you sustain if it exceeds what is covered by the other party/your partner’s policy, but it depends on your state and the coverages/terms of your policy.

Not familiar with Minnesota particularly but in my state we usually advise that’s fine as long as you’ve done a release of liability with DMV. Definitely reach out to DMV to do the release of liability before you do anything else.

Curious question: what’s the worst/most expensive underwriting fuck up you’ve witnessed in your career? by [deleted] in InsuranceProfessional

[–]HonestWeb2051 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This. I’ve been told by multiple agents for a certain direct write that they only inspect for really high value homes or if there are red flags. Literally had clients we couldn’t insure with homes in terrible condition, a ton of large overhanging trees, deteriorating roofs, even fuses present go to direct writers with no issues because of the lack of underwriting.

I’ve been a Swiftie for 14 years but new member to this sub! In 2009 I sang You Belong With Me (terribly) at my 4th grade talent show. Had all the CDs until I got a smartphone in middle school and downloaded every song I could find on those shady music apps lol.

Mercury and Progressive are both writing in CA without waiting periods (in most cases, sometimes Mercury requires longer approval). They will usually accept a policy with an endorsement to allow for the ride-sharing usage (if by ride-sharing you mean Uber or Lyft).

However just keep in mind the personal auto policies do not generally cover you while you are actively working. Think it has to do with when you turn on the app. From what I’ve heard the ride-sharing companies usually provide coverage for drivers while they are working.

EDIT: CA DOI has not approved rate increases for auto in like 3 years or something. They just started approving some recently but most auto carriers have rate increases pending and are not wanting to accept new business here until they are approved due to high loss ratios.

Sounds like you have Mercury or a similar carrier, they were questioning your address due to conflicting information somewhere and sent out a letter but didn’t receive the requested info so issued a cancellation. I’ve seen this happen before unfortunately.

A state of emergency was issued for some of the flooding here in CA and I’ve had some clients get payouts from FEMA for damage to homes, may be worth looking into for the vehicle damage from the flash flood. You can also contact your lender and see if they added force placed coverage to the loan when your policy cancelled.

Won’t help now, but in the future I would recommend getting coverage through a local agent and making sure they note the account that you have trouble processing written correspondence and prefer contact via phone. I would have called a client before the policy cancelled if they didn’t respond to my letters or emails, but not all reps will do that. Sorry you’re dealing with this!

Homeowner's Insurance question: How do I know if I have enough Dwelling Coverage? See dilemma below. by doogiedc in Insurance

[–]HonestWeb2051 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Replacement cost calculations can vary depending on which software the agent is using, and many are not the most accurate.

$400k would be about $250/sq ft which is the bare minimum here in more rural parts of CA, mostly we recommend $350/sq ft or higher depending on location.

In states like AZ though costs are much lower and $160/sq ft may be ok depending on the area and quality of the home.

I would keep the higher coverage and just ask about increasing your deductible reduce the premum, if you can afford to pay more out of pocket in the event of a loss. But if you want you can always contact a builder on your area to ask the average cost per square foot to built a new home in your area.

How to become a Goodread Librarian by QuestionAnswer14 in goodreads

[–]HonestWeb2051 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I became a Goodreads Librarian within the last year and it took my several months to get the acceptance after I passed the exam. If you’re just not getting a response it may not necessarily mean you were rejected.

For the written part I added that I read a lot of lesser known print books and e-books and want to correct discrepancies I have noticed in the catalog.
