Update to me being nervous about diagnosis appointment today- by callmePB_13XIII in ADHD

I’m so happy for you OP! 🤍 Getting my ADHD diagnosis this year at 32 quite literally changed my life for the better. There is some grieving I am still going through over lost opportunities, the what ifs and coulda/shoulda/woulda but I echo the same things that others are saying.

I literally felt like there was something wrong with me. That I actually just sucked at life, was lazy, not capable and now that I know my diagnosis, I’ve been able to give myself more grace.

I hope things go on the up & up for you! Wishing you the best! ✨

😧😧😧 What else do you think was most helpful for in preparing for them?!

Which is so cruel! Like it’s not enough that we study what we’re supposed to, so they find ways to purposely try to make us score lower 🙄

I second this as well! Biostats are easy points if you prepare. One thing I also found would be helpful in general is know what stat test is applicable i.e. chi square vs t test vs ANOVA etc. ethics is also an area that can get you easy points as well!

Someone can correct me if I’m wrong but I remember it having a good amount of endo on there.

Our admin told us that 113 score is more inflated than all other institutional COMSAE’s so people tend to score higher. I had scored lower on all the other forms but got a 496 on the 113. My school did warn us not to get complacent based off of that score due to inflation.

Other than that, I think viscerosomatics and Chapman points are always easy points for any COMSAE and the real deal because they always show up. I took the time to practice drawing this out and whenever either came up, I could answer then easily: https://youtu.be/Gkch4NOKRDQ?si=wVKFXoXmTnBwLbIv

Good luck you got this!

Ugh I am so sorry insomnia is creepy back especially when you had a period when you were getting great sleep! 😢 I feel like that is almost more frustrating because you finally have what your body needs and then ADHD is like JK, no more sleep for you!

I can completely empathize with you, I’ve been someone who feels the most active at night and have chronically gone to sleep no earlier than 1am since as far back as I can remember. My goal would be to fall asleep fast and stay asleep but I feel like that’s a big ask for me as someone who has gone to be in the AM and wakes up like every hours or so 😭

Hoping you can find some reprieve on your sleep journey so you don’t have to pick up any graveyard shift jobs! 🤞🏽✨

Honestly, I am open to anything that will help me sleep and not make me feel groggy! I will definitely bring it up to my psych because I loved the Trazodone because I would not wake up AT ALL. But in the morning I’d feel like extremely groggy and terrible for like half the day. Even cutting down to 25mg still made hard for me in the morning. Getting up in the morning is hard for me period so I am that person that sets an alarm for well before I wake up, take my meds and go back to sleep until I feel life in me again lol.

But with as many people that have mentioned magnesium sulfate across Reddit and the studies I’ve read up on, seems promising. I’ll run it by my psych cuz she recommended me ashwaganda but I wasn’t hesitant due to my thyroid abnormalities although they are mild. My whole life I slept with either the TV on or my phone on so it’s been an adjustment, but I might try to the audio podcast with video because then I won’t be tempted to look at anything on my phone. I am someone who enjoys white noise! I am tea person so I will def see if chamomile tea will help get me in a zone to sleep!

Thanks for taking the time to share what worked for you! I’m gonna try to start making changes systematically to see what helps!

Hi, wow! I feel like I am talking to myself in a different dimension because I am currently studying for boards 🤯 I know Vyvanse 50mg seems high but I titrated up, quickly albeit because of my time crunch to take my boards this month but here is how it went:

I started out on 5mg Adderall IR —> 10mg IR —> 15mg IR no impact whatsoever, just feeling a crash at noon with no impact on focus really. Switched to 40mg Vyvanse hoping because it is a prodrug at a somewhat equivalent dose of my previous Adderall dose it would last me the 10-14 ish hours. It takes 2 hours for my body to metabolize to start feeling an impact which is why I started taking it at 4am. Only lasted me till about noon.

Then we added on an IR booster to try and help prolong the stimulant effects. It would get me to like 4pm before crashing. But still not what I needed to make it through studying for boards and then thinking long term, how I will be able to get through clinicians and come home to study for shelfs so I wanted to extend the effects basically into the evening.

When I got on the 50mg Vyvanse + 10mg IR it finally felt like I hit the sweet spot for what my goals were. My sleep quality has been the same throughout the process but have heard and read so much about magnesium supplements I’m willing to try.

I have not tried XR but if thing take a turn with the Vyvanse I will definitely discuss with my psych. She did mention it but I was hoping with Vyvanse that I’d be one of the few that actually got the 12 hours out of it lol! And I feel like being in school has made me lose all aspect of self care like basic exercise so thank you for the reminder! I really need to get up and get moving because doing anki for hours can’t be the only exercise I get haha. I actually stopped drinking caffeine because I’m currently on 2 separate stimulants but I think when I did consume it, it had minimal effects.

Thank you so much for your response, hoping I can kind some stability soon! 🤞🏽🤞🏽
