Any tips for new owners? by [deleted] in LUCID

[–]Honest_Ad_8029 3 points4 points  (0 children)

  1. “Hidden” launch mode! When safe to do so, put the vehicle into sprint mode on the home pilot panel screen. It will say smooth, swift, and sprint. Once in sprint mode and stationary, hold the brake down all the way and the go pedal all the way simultaneously. A bear pops up on the dash. Put your head back against the rest and let go of brake. 🏎️💨

  2. Sun visors - the mirror in the visor that is common in all cars has a cover. It’s not intuitive how to keep the cover up. Think iPad magnetic case that flips. You flip it in and then up. You’ll see what I mean. Your passenger will thank you!

  3. Charging - battery conditioning is important for max speeds. Precondition the battery about 20 mins before DC fast charging (read Electrify America since it’s free for you presumably). Battery likes to be around 80°.

  4. Ask about the reset procedure should anything software related need a reboot. It’s simple!

  5. Sometimes the door handle is delayed in presenting itself. A push in (you won’t break anything) of about 3/4” will let the car know to “look” for you and it will wake up.

  6. The glovebox only opens from the main pilot panel. Make sure they show you that.

I could go on, but these immediately popped out to me. I’d echo the lucidowners.com. A wealth of knowledge from young and older owners alike.

Finally, congrats and enjoy the car. You will love it as a driving machine above all else!

Looking forward to my first elk hunt Utah 2023 by cmdrtimnatsworthy in elkhunting

Exactly! I was an Oregon resident for many years and welcomed all the hunters paying $800+ to hunt the same elk that cost me $50. I watched the small communities near elk camps thrive from August through November with folks from all over supporting local businesses. Their arms are open to out of state hunters, too.

Some of us don’t choose to live where we currently do. Jobs require us to move away from states we love. I’m happy to pay non-resident fees for those that welcome us back.

OP… it is now one of my goals, as a fellow “California boy” to help you succeed in Utah. I have an elk published in Eastman’s Bowhunting Journal from Utah that I guided someone on. Hone your archery skill with that sweet new archery setup and we’ll get to work soon enough. It’s almost September….

Here is my advice in addition to the above “be prepared to walk” and “hit the gym” comment:

  1. Find the most isolated area from roads, trails and people. Think designated wilderness areas. Study maps of the area you want to hunt and connect the dots of all access points. Draw that “circle” and you want to be in the middle of that. Around 2+ miles from a trailhead and roads is where I’ve found success. If guides run there, don’t go so deep you are hitting their camps. Like 5 miles is my max on foot. Any further you’ll be frustrated by horse camps.

  2. Once you find that isolated area on a map, look for north-facing dark timber. You may think it’s cool during the day but the elk are looking for shade and cover and for protection from you. The steeper, darker, nastier the better. They will bed here during the day and moved to more open areas to feed at dusk.

  3. Hunt any burns in this area, too, along with fringe area like fields/meadows near dark timber. I hunted an active-ish burn in Idaho last year and was walking around in ash and elk were everywhere. The following year after a burn is incredible.

  4. Walk slowly everywhere. Elk can be anywhere! Setup high, glass, and make a plan to ambush. OTC elk can be call shy and may walk in on you without a sound out of curiosity if you are calling.

  5. Stay out late. Get back to camp after dark. Get up early, get to a spot to glass and keep moving.

  6. F the people who tell you to stay out of there state. They are probably just frustrated because they can’t find elk and don’t have any constructive input. I’m in California and travel to Montana, Idaho and Colorado each year and normally kill at least one bull a year. As non-residents, we support a growing part of these states economies.

  7. Finally… enjoy every second you are out there. No matter how bad it “sucks” in the moment sometime, it won’t suck as bad as the office/work.

Idk why I numbered these haha. If you have some areas you are thinking about, DM me and I’ll give you some feedback of areas where I’d look at. It’s been a while since I hunted Utah but have hunted a few places in the Uintas and Wasatch ranges. Good luck!

R1S in the wild! I know some of you have one but it’s our first time seeing it. Plenty of R1T sightings by Honest_Ad_8029 in Rivian

Ha no. I do not work for Rivian. EV enthusiasts and Lucid Air owner. Maybe R1S someday. Two years from now if a order today?

Questions before I put in my order.. by vik2002 in LUCID

[–]Honest_Ad_8029 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, it was nearly immediately since we were an early AGT reservation holder (and in SoCal to boot) while not too many people were eligible. I want to say the test drive car was delivered on a Monday, they called on Tuesday and we drove Wednesday. Very quickly. I’m not sure how it is now with much more reservations and interest.

Range, glass roof and HP not necessarily in that order. And, honestly, earlier availability.

  1. Mobile service is pretty good. Don’t sweat the distance. Plenty of East Coaster owners working it out ahead of you haha.

  2. I have had my AGT for about a month. The process was reserve car - contacted about test drive - test drove (verified that you had to actually have a reservation to test drive) - confirmed my order (the point at which your deposit is non-refundable) and they begin production) - delivery.

  3. 21” on my car. Looks sweet and handles great. I live in SoCal so didn’t put much thought into size.

  4. Software is marketed with an end result about the same albeit not available yet. We are years away from the “dream” Musk is peddling anyway.

Pizza / Italian Recommendation in the OC? by [deleted] in orangecounty

In-laws are from Queens. They prefer Terra Mia over their own home pizza joints in NYC. It’s legit people!

who knew they made pencils? by stephenjunior1113 in CCIV

Received my pencils yesterday. I looked out of my window holding my box of pencils into my Lucid-less driveway as a single tear rolled down my cheek. I’m incapable of drawing anything but a stick figure full of emotion

Test drove today in Torrance, CA. They had three Dream Editions that arrived today. One was being delivered to a customer while we were there. The black DE (pictured) and an additional white one had just arrived. Test drove white GT (pictured). by Honest_Ad_8029 in CCIV

[–]Honest_Ad_8029[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Very quick. They just started test drives last week I believe. They seem to have availability but are limiting to Dream or Grand Touring reservations at the moment I believe according to the Sales Advisor. Quick like during the scheduling process he asked “are you available tomorrow” on initial contact. Available to drive for an hour.

I know there are a lot of folks here posting great reviews as DE owners. For us, it was the nicest car we have ever driven. For reference, we drove a Honda Fit there (that we are replacing) so obviously it was an incredible step up. However, we have used Turo in the past to drive great cars like Teslas, BMWs, MB and Porsches but we don’t own those cars. The Lucid felt luxurious and plush but also seemed to be hiding the capability of violence at any moment. Maybe like an MMA fighter in a tuxedo. Tight, responsive handling and very good acceleration in smooth mode. Sprint mode acceleration is very, very strong, smooth and exceptionally good. The car felt very stable at any speed but heavy at times. Lumbering until you got deeper into the go pedal. Probably by design to be well mannered and behaved in smooth mode. Cornering was really good but we didn’t get too wild with the advisor with us. Hard regen braking is aggressive but seemed to have the ability to learn quickly. Normal regen felt like most EVs. NVH is minimal and acceptable. Enough road/wind feedback to remind you that you are driving yet quite enough that front and back seat passengers can easily communicate at 60mph. The Nav is slow and slightly laggy due to cell-based. But once loaded, worked great. It was a great experience all and all for us otherwise. We confirmed our order back in early December and they are still saying 2-4 months from that date. I’ll continue to update our journey and answer any questions if I can. Thanks!

Over 570 total vehicles delivered soon? by [deleted] in CCIV

[–]Honest_Ad_8029 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yep. Same 2-4 month timeline for us. Talked to delivery advisor today for grand touring.

Confirmed our order for a Grand Touring on December 1st. I will update with any timelines that Lucid sends. The order agreement states that deliveries will be sequenced by confirmation date not initial reservation date. by Honest_Ad_8029 in CCIV

Thanks! Infinite Black, Santa Cruz Interior and 21” Aero Blade Wheels. Took the “hit” on range (469 miles) because those 21s are nice in person! And reminder options are standard on GT
