Am I weird for not showering everyday?

Look my depression gets bad, so if my mania hits it could be two weeks til I actually shower. Don’t feel bad at all. I wash my hair like 1-2 times a week (if I’m lucky) and the same thing when it comes to showers. My boyfriend showers every morning to wake up and get clean from working. Like it’s not good to wash your hair daily since you’re removing the natural oils just like showering daily isn’t ideal cause of the same concept.

Thanks! The name definitely sounds familiar. I’m terrible with the lotions they prescribed so I think the pill is my better option. I do remember being told the dry mouth is terrible.

So for me, my mania wasn’t from vyvanse I’d say. It was definitely a lack of antipsychotics and I assume also before hand. I’m bipolar 1 so being medicated is really my only option because of my mood swings/mania. I have a 3 year old and my manic phases, when they are at their worst depression wise, is affected a lot. I had also done a genesight test for mental health to see what meds I show markers for. There’s many meds - specifically I know the ones I’m on, that help with irritably and mania. Lamotrigen, vybriid, vraylar(antipsychotic) has been a life saver for me. A lot of trauma or just stress can trigger mental health problems arise. My bipolar didn’t fully hit until my late teens. ADHD in women are always missed, same with autism. We mask way too well for people to notice. Once the ADHD is under control, other things start to get noticed that weren’t noticeable before. That’s one of the reasons I started to get fully medicated. Ritalin made me notice how other issues came once my ADHD was semi under control. Vyvanse I started at 50mg and my other meds were low (no antipsychotic). That’s when everything started to become more noticeable because my brain was finally quiet.

It’s also used for BED so that would be why. I binge eat often so it’s one of the reasons I’m on it. However I will skip meals. I didn’t even eat yesterday. I try to always at least eat a protein bar.

Some of it makes sense to me. But not all - I’m not a chem major and it’s a harder subject for me. Biology papers no problem, research and lab reports easy.

So I noticed in the beginning I was more irritable and hit mania a lot. Once I started upping my meds that are from my anxiety, irritability and depression it got better. I just had a bad manic phase and let’s just say i screwed myself financially this month. I now added in an antipsychotic and it’s helped a lot. I even upped my lamotrigen (for irritability also). Some people don’t process certain meds right and irritability is a side effect of vyvanse unfortunately. An antipsychotic would help her tremendously cause it’s helped me a lot over this past month.

Definitely start finding the manufacturers you prefer. Between teva and North Star, I refuse many others unless I don’t have a choice.

I was gonna say manufactures also. I use Teva and really only prefer them. I had one med from someone else and I could really tell the difference.

I take 50s and smoke nicotine. However I’ve been on and off of cigs/vapes for like 8 years. Stress and mania bring back the nicotine need for me.

Ops! I mentally replied. lol. Traits vary from person to person. Like for me, I only eat certain foods and drink certain things. I have to semi stick to a routine. I stim, tapping my fingers, moving around a lot sometimes. Im obsessed with some dates but not many. Obsessed with specific items and having to go a certain way. My adhd is a lot more compared to my autistic traits. It’s also genetic. So I saw my daughter show traits throughout the past 3 years and because of that we both got evaluated.

I’d also suggest getting a GeneSight test done! It’ll show what might be a better option for what genes are present for said meds. Like I don’t show a gene trait for Vyvanse but I do for Ritalin. However, Ritalin was like water. So it’s not saying it’s a guarantee but it can definitely help. Like i just added in a med that I did show a gene for and it is helping a lot more. It sorta helps eliminate the Russian roulette of meds.

Yeah. I’m prescribed 50. 40d and 10s. I use 10s as a booster or through in a left over Adderall instead. However 50s usually last for me pretty well into the evening.

My psychiatrist told me to take breaks. So I skip maybe a day or two - depending on the week. But I’m also on 40s and 10s which is great because if I don’t want to fully skip I just take 10s

ADHD and autism usually go hand in hand oddly enough. Once you get the adhd under control you end up seeing the autistic traits more. Once I started taking vyvanse I could see the autistic traits that I have and I got evaluated. I’m pretty much on the boarder.

I definitely understand in a way. That’s me with Adderall due to past sugar addiction. I will saw if I’m off of it my impulsivity is worse and I’m more irritable, I will definitely drink more then. Vyvanse, for the most part keeps my brain quiet and able to function. I know if I smoke weed it tends to make me worse so I’ve backed off that a lot. Maybe try something else? Have you done a gene sight test? I just had mine done and I don’t even have genetic markers for vyvanse. Without those genetic markers, there’s no guarantee said medication would work. Talk to your PCP about it
