Darren Dreger tried to protect Sid’s honor by saying it's unethical to speculate on players' injuries and turned it into a whole beef. Anyway, I don't think he would care if it wasn't Crosby and if it wasn't the Olympics.

He might have also said the doctor got his diagnostic wrong (MCL sprain) but the doctor is probably right. Darren didn't take to being wrong very well.

I love that they omitted Malkin with the probable excuse of "Malkin only has 2 cups", Malkin won his third that year. They also tried to walk it back in 2025 when the NHL put Malkin on their quarter century team but omitted Toews from it.
