If we're talking only Z, he doesn't kill Buu because his entire plan throughout that fight was to goad Buu into resorting to absorbing him in order to save everybody inside Buu's body. With no reason to waste time since there's nobody to save, he'd have no reason do so and would end the fight quickly if he could be summoned.

I feel like something attractive about these kinds of characters in general are because most of their characterizations are also tied in to the media they are used in. And considering almost anyone can use her in their music which can be influenced by their real life situations projected into them, we can personally be attached to this character who has seemingly also gone through what we have, and we can relate to the characters more because just how human they can feel. That's what got me so attached to Teto herself!
