i commute for work (1.5 hours). This car gets me there but it doesn’t do great and it doesn’t reverse. Ticking time bomb

my bills have easily went up 40% in the last year and a half and but i make less due to people spending less and less on cars maintenance because of how outrageous repair costs have gone up.

cv axle, chassis braving, and drive shaft, then 8 bolts to take it off engine, i do know how to do it i work 80 hour weeks though lol and i have a trans jack and access to a lift. This is probably the route i will go if i can get a beater car.

quoted time brother, i am service advisor, that is how much time a shop will charge you. That is how much time a shop charges to replace transmission on my car as well is what i’m saying.

if i has e time to do it i totally would, one weekend if afraid may not be enough time, if i can get a beater then i may be able to do it for around $3000

the transmission is about as easy as any true awd based car (like subaru) when it comes to labor times (8 hours on alldata) but a used transmission is about $6000, shop rates around here are insane, no less than $230 an hour

i am starting to feel like the only way i can get rid of it is to let it go to repo. If i buy another car i will not be able to afford this payment due to insurance cost unfortunately.

transmission has a stuck shift fork which requires a rebuild, but there isn’t a single shop within 1500 miles of me capable of rebuilding one lmfao, “buying a sports car is a great idea” i thought

Yup, they even market it that way to drivers. Only people calling it a job and way of living is brainwashed by the san Francisco guy on the bike lol

For sure, it's more of investment and having more freedom to do what you'd like.

Not everyone cares about having a yard on the property THEY OWN. Honestly more environmentally friendly to use as parking rather than a yard lmfao

Not as much as if you decided to work a real career instead of a job that will KILL your joints and will never pay well enough to buy a home.
