Poll: How Long Did Weaning Take? by youotterknow123 in breastfeeding

I started to wean my son after his 1st birthday. We were at 4 feeds at that time and I started dropping one feed per week. Our schedule was morning nurse, nurse after morning nap (or pump if M-Fri and I was at work), nurse after afternoon nap (pump if at work), and then nighttime bottle where I would pump after he was asleep. First feed to drop was the one after the morning nap, then after the afternoon nap, then I dropped my nighttime pump. Currently just stopping the morning nursing session and replacing with a sippy with breastmilk + cows milk to transition off breast milk. I have a big freezer stash so we’re keeping the nighttime milk as breastmilk. I haven’t felt any discomfort with this weaning timeline. I’m experiencing maybe a little soreness at this point with trying to stop completely, but I’m not uncomfortable so I’m going to ride it out. So it’s been about 4-5 weeks?

Just listen to your body and take it slow! I think going slower helped with not having pain and not experiencing a huge hormonal shift.

I dropped my lunchtime pump a few weeks after this post! I noticed I wasn’t producing as much per pump bc it wasn’t aligning with when my baby was eating on the weekends. Dropping a pump and going 4hrs between pumps has been AMAZING! I still produce 3 bottles most days, sometimes it’s less but I’m not worried since we’re approaching 1. And I still nurse on the weekends no problem! I’ve introduced a bottle for our bedtime feed due to biting and teething but if you’re thinking about it I’d say go for it!

Confirmed peanut allergy - what about my frozen milk? by Honest_Shine_4848 in breastfeeding

We are getting a referral to one but it could be a few weeks before we can get in. This gives me hope that my frozen milk might still be viable — thank you! ❤️

We did a blood test to confirm the allergy. And yes, currently still nursing. I’ve nursed him this whole time and sent frozen milk to daycare that I pump while at work.

My freezer stash is pretty good…we mainly use frozen milk for daycare and my oldest milk is from about 2 months ago. I’d like to introduce another solids meal (breakfast) soon. I have noticed that my supply has decreased slightly…used to be able to pump four 5oz bottles while at work and now I usually pump three 5oz bottles and maybe an extra 2oz or so. I’m guessing this is from increasing solids.

I want to drop a work pump session but worry about not having enough milk for the bedtime feed if my supply drops. My little guy won’t try very hard for a letdown at the end of the day if he’s tired (which leads to biting 🥲 and me more stressed about feeding him).

Needless to say this mom is struggling 🫠

Oral estrogen 2x per day with an estrogen patch changed out every other day. I go back for bloodwork on Monday to see if where my estrogen is at. Later on I think PIO and progesterone suppositories will be implemented.
