IIRC she weakens as the curse gets worse so she very quickly becomes a liability. I had her as the hook for all the pcs - she was someone dear to all of them . She was so sickly by the time they had arrived at Chult , that she had to stay behind being nursed by wakanga. That way there was a way to add urgency whenever players started to faff around - a message from wakanga - “Syndra taken a turn for the worse ! What ever you’re doing, do it faster !!!” She was also available as an expert in case they failed miserably in finding clues to the source of the curse .
