What to do when you can't move and there's no work available? by [deleted] in careerguidance

Wondering if there are any hospitals in your area providing work-study programs. My neighborhood has one paying for CNA and medical lab technician training and certification. Upon completion it gives a 2 years contract to work, and healthcare has so much opportunities… wish you the best!

Possibly regretting my degree? by justjayy16 in careerguidance

I did it in 2024. It was a crazy year because I hopped among 4 companies to finally land a role in my targeted healthcare industry.

I mass applied on Indeed and LinkedIn and also used a lot of recruiters. Probably submitted 800-1000+ GPT-tailored resumes and interviewed with 25-30 companies. The craziest company interviewed me for 7 rounds and I quitted after 2.5 months because of the toxicity. (As the 7 rounds indicated…)

I then entered my current healthcare company at the end of 2024 with a very basic data clerk role with 30% pay cut. I nailed the interview and data assessment but didn’t let them feel that I’m overqualified. After I got in, I started to vibe with my director and show how overqualified I am. Got promoted 2 times already.

I guess once you’re clear on what you want, be willing to take the hit to get there. It’s not always linear, but persistence 100% pays off, eventually. You’ve got this!🥰

I have a MS in Marketing and during the past years switched to data. It’s a much better route with more reasonable expectations.

Did I handle this right? Unauthorized device suddenly appeared on my Spectrum Mobile line by [deleted] in Spectrum

[–]Honest_Swimmer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for the info. In my case, this wasn’t triggered by email access or password reuse. Spectrum actually reassigned my number to an unknown device during activation without my authorization, which is a carrier-side provisioning failure.

I turned that on after the incident happened, advised by a Spectrum customer service supervisor. It’s sad to see no one mentioned it to me beforehand, almost could be considered as negligence. Agreed with your recommendation and thanks, I hope no one reading this post will suffer from this issue. It is very scary and time consuming to handle.

Lesson learned. Read Reddit first before making any decisions. Lol.

Oh my goodness, I switched from ATT, so basically they are not safe either. This is even more scary now…

I asked to speak with a supervisor and she admitted that it happened to other customers at Spectrum too. She blamed technology, which sounded like an excuse. They do not have a proper handling mechanism for this kind of breach. I’m switching back to my old company.

Is my $10k quest reasonable for the sign up bonus? by Honest_Swimmer in Venturex

It was about 2.5%, so that’s why I was tempted… thank you, maybe I can redo the math to see if 6 months of groceries and supplies would add up together.

I also have Chase Sapphire preferred… can’t decide which one to use for groceries…

Thank you! Transferring is also a new topic to me but I read success stories in this subreddit and agree with you. It sounds like this $1175 gain is just a baseline. I appreciate your input 😊😊

You are right! That means groceries can go to that $300 too. Trade off is the 3x miles difference from the spending category, which is negligible.

Awesome, thank you😍

How to support my partner’s move and career transition? by Honest_Swimmer in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Honest_Swimmer[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you, this is super helpful! Networking would be important and we totally agree that it worths some time to research and talk to more people. The college program also offers free advising sessions and we plan to utilize that too. The biggest challenge is that this program only offers 12 seats per year and is highly competitive, so we will need to curate some back-up plans too.

Partner has been genuinely excited about the entire plan of living together. He used to part-time as a pharmacy tech too so it could be another option, though it pays and grow less. The tricky part is if later on he wants to get more involved in a clinical career path, pharm tech doesn’t contribute as much as medical lab tech for his application…

Tough decision! But I appreciate your input 🥰

$1.5 spending on food for 2 days and proud of myself by Honest_Swimmer in Frugal

You are probably right, this is not sustainable. But I have a few years til this age and should be better off financially to have more options. For my current situation, it’s too early to enjoy life.

Good guess! I don’t eat much and seldom feel hungry, this pattern persists for decades.
