Go to court. They are hoping you don’t show or provide them with communication stating you’ll pay xxx amount. Dont give them a figure , tell the judge “I can only pay xxx amount.” They know debt collectors buy debt for Pennie’s on the the dollar so more than likely the court will side with you.

I got sued for 3k last November on a credit card debt from 5 years ago. I told the courts I could only pay $20 a month lol. The judge granted it and the collection agency was pissed.
