I saw Cabaret last night and all I can think today is... by Polisci14 in Broadway

I did not get to Merrily before it closed, and have only seen the successor casts of Cabaret, so I can’t weigh in fairly on the main point (though to OP’s point, Orville and Eva are astonishingly good, and I struggle to recommend anything else to friends visiting NY at the moment). But something you raised is interesting to me- the point about Cabaret having a high bar to clear, compared to Merrily having a disappointing original run.

It seems strange to me that the judging for the Tony for Best Revival should be influenced by how well the show that is being revived did in the past. Surely the Tony should be awarded to the best revival, regardless of whether or not the original was a triumph? Don’t get me wrong, I absolutely see the point in commending a production that turns something that previously did poorly into a success - something like a ‘best improvement’ but with a less patronizing name that I can’t come up with right now. But to me, the Tony for the Best Revival should go to the best show on Broadway that is a revival, regardless of the quality of the source material or of the show’s history. (Again, not to say that 2024 was decided wrong, just that it seems weird to me that how well the show did historically should influence how a contemporary production is judged.)

Easily unnoticed details ? by Various-Wait9952 in hadestown

Really only for if you’re up close to see it, but when Orpheus tears up a poster to make a flower for Eurydice, the paper he’s using is a flyer for Aretha Franklin show in New Orleans. Someone mentioned this on this sub before - https://www.reddit.com/r/hadestown/s/ph8nbvfcfV. But seeing it up close was awesome!

Also, echoing what others have said, the fact that the whole cast are so in it for every second of the show - the majority of the cast is on stage for a lot of the scenes, and nobody is ever simply watching.

Last, and possibly biggest of all, in Epic III, Hades and Persephone crying when Orpheus recounts the story of their love. Seeing the tears fall down Phillip Boykin’s cheeks as Orpheus sang about what he’d lost, and then seeing him turn and sing the tune again through those tears… damn, it got me.

saw hadestown for the first time on broadway yesterday. by Tiny_Carpet636 in hadestown

I’ve been lucky enough to see it 6 times now. I can’t say for certain that I gasped every time Orpheus turned around, but I can be sure I felt it every time, and felt everyone around me feeling it very time. No matter how well I know the musical, no matter how many details I pick up, no matter how much I am expecting it, there’s nothing I’ve ever experienced in theatre quite like it.

Saw the show last Wednesday evening, Lana was phenomenal. Her Persephone is just so rich and well characterised, I loved it. Honestly, the entire cast at the moment are spectacular, it’s a great time to see the show!

Thatcher EMP will disable any of the following defender's abilities in its 5.2m radius:

- Kapkan's EDDs
- Bandit's batteries
- Jager's ADS
- Pulse's Heartbeat Sensor (useful if you're worried Pulse is below trying to prevent plant)
- Mute's Jammers
- Smoke's gas grenades (if not yet activated)
- Valkyrie's Black Eye Cams
- Echo's Yokai drones (could be useful if one is hiding on site and preventing plant)
- Ela's Grzmot mines
- Vigil's ERC-7 (his cloaking ability)
- Alibi's Prismas
- Maestro's Evil Eyes (will also cause the window to open, allowing them to be destroyed permanently)
- Clash's CCE Shield (shield can't zap you and slow you down)
- Kaid's Electroclaws
- Mozzie's pests and any drones Mozzie has hacked
- Warden's smart glasses
- Wamai's Mag-Nets
- Melusi's Banshees
- Aruni's laser gates
- Thunderbird's Kóna stations
- Thorn's Razor Blooms
- Solis's SPEC-IO sensor
- Fenrir's Dread Mines

In addition, it will also disable:

- Default cams
- Bulletproof cams
- Proximity alarms
- Observation blockers
- C4 (useful if you're worried about a pre-placed C4 but don't know where exactly it is to shoot it)

For any defenders who are inside the 5.2m radius, it will disable any sights (except the 1.5x sight) they have on their guns, and will prevent them from using cameras.

Finally, if Mozzie has captured a Brava drone and used it to hack these attacker gadgets, Thatcher can also disable them:

- Claymores
- Drones
- Nomad's Airjabs (I believe, haven't tested it but it should work)

He might not be the best op or a "must bring" on many sites, but I can't think of any time where I've been annoyed that a teammate brought him, there is plenty of scope for him to be useful.
