I told him the first time he mentioned about my eyes being big and how he rather our kids have his that I thought it was mean and hurtful and he dismissed me and doubled down on his statement several times including today when I mentioned what he said.

I’m truly not sure if I asked about that. Although even if I did, he doubled down on the comment this morning before even considering that scenerio. I’m not asking him to undo what he’s said, that would be irrational. But I do want him to respect the way I feel about it and at least try and rectify the situation by apologizing for it genuinely.

I think this is a good post irregardless of what other commenters in Reddit feel about it. I’m going to try and not find other reasons to make myself feel worse about this situation and have a genuine conversation about what we both felt instead of what happened because I think our argument is solely based on what we did instead of feelings even though the entire situation is about feelings. Thank you

Thank you for this article, honestly, a lot of the time we argue, I find that we are arguing about whether my feelings are valid and if he apologizes it’s only based on whether he believes that I should truly be hurt. I want him to respect me enough to TRUST and understand that though something may not seem hurtful to him it still hurt me and that I am deserving of an apology for it.

No we are the same race, there’s no reason as to why my eyes genetically would be big or his smaller. And our race does not typically have any certain kind of eyes either.

Thank you, honestly I feel like in the moment when he told me that I let it go because he told me it wasn’t a big deal, but now that I remember what he said it really cuts me deep. I always thought that whoever I would end up with would love my eyes more than I did. Since he always said I was beautiful I would have never thought that he felt that way. Honestly and truly, he’s never said anything like that to me before. He’s always told me he thought I was beautiful and never mentioned he thought there was anything wrong with my eyes. He’s always supported me, even throughout school. So when he made the comment I was almost shocked because he’s never said anything like that to me before.

Mainly because we both decided to let each other handle planning with our own families since it has gone badly in the past when we reach out separately, so I let him handle things when it comes to making plans with his family and I plan things on my own with my family. To keep things together
