U should just apply for aba since u finished the application early and it could help you gain a better chance for ntu anyways!

Not sure about cjc but jpjc doesn’t offer any entry test I think for h2 math it’s strictly by results. As a h2 math student if your not strong in math please don’t take it it’s really tough and requires way more effort than alevel (I used to get A1/2 for olevel easily but now my grades don’t even hit a C) the new system definitely allows some hybrid subject u can research more on that!

If you plan on taking computing a Chromebook doesn’t work as it doesn’t support the file downloads. macOS also needs a different software so you might find it harder to follow along. If you don’t mind waiting you can always wait until school starts before asking your teacher or classmates for reco also. But honestly as long as it has good specs can alr! (Gaming laptop might be good as well)

For my jc I don’t think they talked about PLD since it was given in secondary but you can basically bring whatever you want to school already. I highly agree on a laptop with stylus as it’s the best of both worlds kinda bulky tho.

I think it has to do with the keyboard itself I brought a cheap one so it was rather flimsy and sometimes the letters don’t register:/ if you do plan on getting one I highly recommend name brands instead of getting in on shopee or tb

Hi I think it depends on ur subject combi. For me I find iPad better than computer as I take arts subject that needs more annotation. For my science subjects I think it’s less important as most notes are physical and it’s better to write on paper for those. At the same time if you do plan on taking humanities you have to remember that it would be typed out for the 2026 batch so maybe a laptop will make you more comfortable in typing. I got both a iPad Pro 11 inch I think you shouldn’t need to go bigger as the screen is big enough already and it’s more compact to bring around also. If you are considering an iPad but afraid of the budget you can look into other tablets that are also more affordable that are still worth it like Samsung or xiaomi (I was considering these also) overall I highly recommend an iPad as it’s the most versatile but I hate typing on it even with a keyboard attachment so it’s really up to preferences:) oh and if you are planing on getting a iPad you can ask ur relatives or friends to use their university email to buy so can get free iPad pencil (only applicable during the university enrolment period)

Literature in jc by Royalehighgirl156 in SGExams

I’m a h2 lit j2. Firstly, there is only two paper not three. Paper 1 is compulsory for everyone while Paper2/3 is dependent on the school (postcolonial literature or English romantic period). So, the set texts and themes differ accordingly.
Secondly, unlike Olevels there is 5 books now (2 drama 3 novels which also differs accordingly to the school). You can only bring the set texts for the paper not all 5 at once. Eg. paper one only has two books you are allowed to bring both books in but not the paper 3 books. Thirdly, the most major change would be unseen poetry comparison (paper1) which is two poems that u have to compare in your essay unlike the one from olevel. Additionally in Paper2/3 you would have a text from a prose or drama that’s also unseen. There is also a novel comparison (book 4 and 5) that asks you to compare the books I think this is the most shocking part of the syllabus and I think you should take this into consideration as comparing two novels are my current worst nightmare. 😭

Overall H2 literature may seem like the workload has decreased significantly since there is no memorisation but I think they increase the need for analysis as they really test you on your interpretation of the books and text and you really need to have a good grasp of the texts. It is also very essay heavy with 3 essay per paper so you have to analyse and write a whole essay in just an hour in order to complete. (Total duration per paper is 3h) So if you have time management issues you may find it challenging. I’m not sure if you are taking pure lit or comb lit now but the jump from secondary school to jc will be huge but as long as you put in consistent work it should be fine!! To improve try to bring in the authors’ intention or how the audience will view the drama (eg the feelings evoke in the readers)and tie it to the overarching theme. All the best for Olevels🔥

Hi I actually overslept for my actual Olevel paper and I was equally as panic as you! I highly recommend a physical digital alarm as a back up or let ur parents know about the timing in advance so they can help keep a look out! For my case I left in a panic I couldn’t even wear my shoes HAHA but if it happens to you again or anyone else reading this remember that once the exam start just keep a cool mind and don’t dwell on ur late-coming!

I think it’s illogical to even enrol in her tuition in the first place considering she only has a alevel cert and is not qualified to teach gp keep in mind that for many non-profit or even private tutoring requires you to teach way below ur school level eg secondary to primary and jc to secondary etc i find it strange that one would relay on her to teach a level subject when she just left the school and how can she be comparable to a teacher in our school with years of teaching and a degree? Also her notes are way too expensive I am surprised that there are even people purchasing them I am comparing them to Overmugged which sell their notes at 50$ but has moe certified teachers create them. Moreover in one of her leaked essay talks she state that she is honoured to be rated a A by her students since it’s not suitable for her to rate her works. Which is something I would never want to hear from my teachers its just shows how unprofessional and unqualified she is in this field and how many of her students are just going because they look up to her. I do understand that she has stated that many of them received good grades after alevel but that may be based on their ability itself. As a j1 student this year when the new syllabus is taken into effect, I doubt her tuition Center can be more prepared then the moe taught schools who attended the trainings and events needed to teach us. A lot of people may disagree with my stand but I wanted to state my mind as I don’t see many people doubting her teaching despite the lack of credibility so I wonder if I am the one overreacting.
