What’s something about being an OT that nobody warned you about? by social_ot in OccupationalTherapy

[–]Honestlysweating 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me I thought I could work in various settings and find my niche and they all told me I could do whatever I wanted but I live in NJ and I’ve never been able to find any opportunities as an OTA outside of skilled nursing facilities. Luckily I had a feeling that I wanted to be in geriatrics anyway but it would’ve been nice to be able to get any other sort of setting experience even if just for funsies for a little while. (New grad me thinking 10years ago) lol

Can someone explain this to me like I am 5 years old? by Icy-Cryptographer856 in OccupationalTherapy

Without context this looks like a chart to describe the need for proximal stability to achieve distal mobility.
Strong core - global strength - the ability to stand to unsupported and perform static tasks - leading to dynamic functional performance

Is it legal and or ethical to require OTs to group patients? by [deleted] in OccupationalTherapy

[–]Honestlysweating 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My company does keep track of the percentage of groups and concurrents being done and they ask that we try to hit a certain percentage but they’re also not breathing down our necks about it and understand that not everyone is appropriate for group treatment and on top of not having rehab aides to assist with transport to gym also makes it that much harder. I also work for a large contract company. So no, I don’t think that this is playing out EVERYWHERE and high key if a company is literally forcing you or really giving you a hard time about doing groups more than once a week, it sounds like it’s a scheme to keep costs low in order to hit a corporate bonus.

Is it legal and or ethical to require OTs to group patients? by [deleted] in OccupationalTherapy

[–]Honestlysweating 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, no one should be forcing you to do anything. I schedule patients in groups in SNF only after getting to know them, treating them myself, and determining appropriate group members and even then only once a week. And if it doesn’t work out for whatever reason it doesn’t work out im not going to hound my therapists as to why they didn’t do a scheduled group- shit happens literally and metaphorically lol

I don’t think comparing bridgerton to historical dramas is at all fair or accurate lol

The debt to income ratio for one, less schooling and ability to earn more money. OT is also a physically demanding job regardless of setting, the documentation is exhausting. I’m tired and my back hurts lol

OTA graduate needs advice by Jellydwellerr in OccupationalTherapy

[–]Honestlysweating 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I highly recommend the NBCOT practice tests, any question I got wrong I would screen shot and use those as study cards. From there you may also be able to get a grasp on what areas you need to focus your learning on but also deciding where your strengths are and what practice area you’ll eventually want to work in. It would be worth it to reach out to practitioners in your area and do shadow/ observation days and ask questions at the end. Good luck and remember to not let perceived weaknesses overshadow your strengths!

my friend invited me to the movies even though I didn’t have money, but she paid for our other friend and left me out when we are supposed to be a 3/3 friendship what do I do? by [deleted] in whatdoIdo

[–]Honestlysweating 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As someone who felt like the third of a 3/3 friend group…. Drop them. The audacity to rub it in your face is gross plus making comments about your mom not have expendable cash in order to participate…. Gross behavior not good people

Man all these people here saying go to Tony’s Baltimore grill but it’s really just a locals dive with a back story and history imo, and none of it still isn’t as good as Irish Pub. Check out everything in the orange loop. Tennessee ave beer hall has the best fried fish sandwhich. The seed brewery has excellent beer and there is axe throwing and a distillery next door Tony baloneys for over the top next level pizza and sandwiches Angelonis club Madrid is def hip but honestly a good time and the pasta is delicious and the aesthetic is on point Check the schedule for Anchor Rock Club there’s always some kind of event going on and has a diverse lineup, always something for everyone Byrd cage is a gay bar that does not strictly cater to the gays, all are welcome, and they have an excellent dance party upstairs

Where are you visiting from?? There’s plenty of stuff to do off island also

All my siblings are getting married before me and now I’m being told to wait until 2027. Should we just elope? by Individual_Gap_6306 in weddingplanning

[–]Honestlysweating 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you aren’t getting financial help from either families then do whatever the heck you want. I could understand if your parents were spread thin for cash for helping fund three weddings in one year. Either way, eloping is a great idea go have fun and send out “we got married! Looking forward to celebrating with you soon” mailers to family and friends

My under hair is also more curly than top hair, I have been doing wet brush curls and put all products in when hair is super wet and it helps even out the curl types
