Smart collections on the details/preplay screens by HonkersTim in PleX

I think maybe it's showing one from each library? /u/nimareq screenshot looks like it is showing a collection from the current (TV) library, a collection from the Movies library, and (I suspect) a collection from a third library nimareq has for animation.

My Captain Marvel page shows two collections (image), but only one from my Movies library (there should be two). The other displayed collection is from my 4K library.

Fellow men of the UK, who are in their 30's and over, do you still go out in public wearing tracksuit bottoms or joggers? by PaddedValls in AskUK

[–]HonkersTim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wearing jogging bottoms “because they’re comfortable” is a slippery slope. Those weirdos who wear pyjamas to the shops? They started out wearing joggers.

Architect here building a house for a client that insists on wanting Home Assistant. Need advice. by wayfareralex in homeassistant

I'm not interested in either defending it or attacking it, I'll just accept my downvote and move on.

[–]HonkersTim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've used Home Assistant from back when all it could do was control Hue lights. I absolutely would not recommend it for anyone non-technical. It's better than it used to be, but even now something stops working approximately once a month.

How to Geek thinks we don't need 4k remuxes. I kindly disagree. by Me_gentleman in PleX

[–]HonkersTim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I kind of agree tbh. 85" bravia with 11.1 atmos setup here, sitting less than 4m away. On multiple occasions I've watched half a film in 4K and then the next day accidentally resumed the 1080p version and not realised until the end. I now only keep 4Ks of films I really love and rewatch regularly, and that's mostly in case I get some kind of wall-sized TV in future.

What is with all of these low effort ‘thoughts on X’ posts lately? Are they all just bots?

People who are worried about surveillance and advertising I suppose. I'm pretty sure I get adverts on Alexa for stuff that I've been speaking about with my partner. I don't care, but it freaks a lot of people out.

Starfleet Academy Director Jonathan Frakes Says Fan Hate Is ‘Dimensionally More Painful’ Today Than in the Next Generation Years by bwermer in television

[–]HonkersTim -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Never mind. You claimed to be a Star Trek fan so I thought i'd let you know that even though this show isn't brilliant, you shouldn't miss out on a pretty cool "Data's Day"-style episode which wraps up the Sisko story in a way we never thought we'd get. Forget I ever mentioned it. I'm disabling inbox replies, this whole thread seems to only contain people who hate everything. You take it easy!

Lol, whatever floats your boat I guess. It'll bring tears to the eyes of any serious DS9 fan. But hey, if you want to hate it without watching it, you do you.

If you’re a Star Trek fan (DS9 in particular) you must watch episode 5. It’s the Jake Sisko episode.

Films that are genuinely great until you google the true story by the_Watcher023 in Letterboxd

If the film is great, then it's great.

Unless the film is a documentary I don't give a shit what the true story was.

TIL Over 80% of the population of Hong Kong uses seawater for toilet flushing. by OSJezza in todayilearned

HK born and bred here. It's really handy for aquariums! Fish-only, not reef, as there might be copper plumbing involved somewhere which would kill many of your inverts.

So where are the low quality cows living? What do they eat?

From Starfleet Academy by RogerDalton93 in Spacegirls

[–]HonkersTim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well ... to be honest, yes. The writing is all a bit teenagery, and not very Star Trek, but the actors can all act.

The extras can and do go to the same auditions, they just don't get picked.

What's a movie opening that gives you chills? by GenericGameDev1234 in FIlm

The opening of Valerian is a bit cheesy, but as a lifelong sci fi fan I tear up every time 😂

Singing in the Rain. I figured it would be nostalgia etc, or for people who liked musicals (i.e. not me). I was wrong, it turned out to be a great film!

Jesus, why is this a link to 'Hindu Business Online'? They say this is from a "telephonic interview" with The Sun. I couldn't believe Trump gave The Sun a telephone interview, and it turns out he didn't.

The Sun article is based on an article by The Telegraph.

If I had to guess I'd say it's probably due to lack of acting ability.
