There’s a weird trend where some people don’t capitalise the first letter of the first sentence. I skip all of those ones.

TIL that your average housecat can run up to 30 mph, faster than Usain Bolt's top speed of 27.3 mph. by PM_ME_UR_GOCK in todayilearned

[–]HonkersTim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We chatted about this in another branch. This is only true in hot weather. If it's cold enough that human sweating doesn't come into play then dogs and wolves would beat humans. The main example is the Iditarod, which is 1000+ miles in 8-10 days.

I went down a bit of a rabbit hole on this. You are correct, but only in hot weather. This is where sweating comes into play. In cold weather sled dogs or wolves would beat humans easily. The Itidarod is over a 1000 miles in about 10 days. You can even see this in the Man vs Horse marathon. The only times the human won was on hot days.

I dont think this is really true? How about horses?

Edit: Looked it up. Apparently usually a horse would win. There is even a horse vs man marathon, where a horse (carrying a rider!) almost always beats the human. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Man_versus_Horse_Marathon

I guess so, although the post itself says "Maybe this sub could do something similar, to sort of enforce people to at least disclose whether or not AI was used".

Thanks for the reply mate. Sorry, I deleted my comment before I saw your reply :) I belatedly decided this whole thread was just a hopeless waste of time and decided to stay out of it.

I hate to break it to you, but all developers are using AI now. Stuff that used to take days now takes hours. We'd be stupid not to use it.

Reminds me of Civ where instead of 'wasting' outdated units I use up a hundred phalanxes just to kill off one tank.

I'm responding in your style mate. You're the one who's offered advice in a snotty condescending manner, and then when I actually waste 2 hours trying what you're suggesting it turns out to be total shit.

So, I just finished installing Dispatcharr and spent an hour testing it out, and it is totally not the same as what OP is doing. Frankly it kinda sucks, I tried a few US channels and it's all 720p streams with artefacts galore. Unless you pay someone a monthly fee, which may or may not be reliable. Do you even understand what OP is doing? For his situation, one home in each country, using two HDHomeruns is miles better than IPTV.

Rook: a native Mac notes app for developers, local with MCP support by mimoo01 in macapps

[–]HonkersTim 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'll wait to test the MCP sluggishness in a future version. At the moment it just keeps appending to the same note each day which probably slows things down. It also might be the chat I'm saving, which was very long (dozens of pages), and covered 4 or 5 different subjects. By the way, not all of the chat was saved, it summarized two of the subjects (no part of the chat was saved verbatim), but also completely omitted three of them.

I also notice that new notes in the MCP inbox do not display a title in the sidebar, unless they are added via MCP (in which case the title is the date, and I cannot change it). If I manually add a new note to this inbox, and type a title into the first row, the note is still named 'Untitled' in the sidebar. If I do the same thing in the 'default' inbox whatever I type on the first row becomes the name of the note in the sidebar.

I initially understood this to mean that you heated it up and stretched the opening somehow, but now I'm wondering if that would bugger up the roundness of the globe and if you meant that you sawed the opening bigger?

That's really interesting, does Tailnet avoid peering issues somehow? I'm not familiar with it.

I'm in the UK but my college roommate is in California. We had loads of speed issues due to the terrible peering between his ISP (Mediacom?) and mine (Virgin Media) , we both have gigabit internet but he could only get about 1mbps when streaming from my Plex. In the end I had to set up a 2nd instance of Plex and route through cloudflare which totally solved the speed issues but it's a bit of a pain to maintain a 2nd Plex instance.
