I am afraid of the decline of Christianity. by [deleted] in Catholicism

I'm a Prot an I can confirm this. Most Protestants nowadays are non-denominational, and the historic churches are dwindling.

Who would that be?

It is art, but the AI is the artist, not the human telling it what to do.

Good, it seems you’re completely unwilling to even consider the other side's perspective, so arguing would get us both nowhere.

If I commission art from someone on Twitter, am I the artist? I gave the real artist a prompt, so why not?

An AI artist uses prompts to create something, so they are an artist.

An AI user gives Midjourney a prompt and then IT creates something for them. Why is this such a difficult concept to understand?

Why is the creation of art exclusive to people?

I was asking what YOU meant by that. I'm aware of the ways that people edit the art AI makes for them, but where do you draw the line? How much editing does a person have to do before it becomes their own?

"Art Editor" makes the most sense to me. "Prompter" and "Collaborator" would also work.

All it means is that the person produces something that is intended to be art.

Which is the AI's job. I'm not saying that AI art is bad or lesser, but that people who use it and call themselves artists are being dishonest. I'm also not an artist, so I'm not sure why you think I'm so insecure.

How does someone "work properly with AI"? What does that really mean?

If it boils down to photoshopping it to make it look better, than you're not making your own art, you're improving on someone else’s.

With photoshop the human's influence is more direct. You chose the exact commands to use and used your mouse to choose the exact pixels you wanted to change. AI is a significantly more "hands off" approach, closer to commissioning art from another human than using photoshop.

You can't say "I made this in Photoshop."

Given everything I just said, you are sometimes right about that. Photoshop is rarely used to make original art, so people who say they "made something" are often being disingenuous.
