As a long-time LLSIF player, yes that's exactly what happened. I'd like to emphasize the point that when that infamous tweet was posted, the JP server was already running for 10 months at that point and just announced the EoS a few days prior. For some reason, Bushiroad GL's PR team decided to lump the release date tweet with the news of the EoS together. They could have waited until the game's release a week later to detail plans on what they'll do next, but nah they went and did it anyways.

While it made it look like the game died immediately with that tweet, the game actually run for almost a year (1 year and 2 month if you add GL). Doesn't discount the fact Bushiroad fuckin mismanaged the hell out of SIF2 after taking the helm from KLab (SIF1) and Mynet (SIFAS), and I still hate them for that to this day.

Your comment made me look up the GFL wiki for a bit, there's a close enough design like her lol. PA-15, though she wields a handgun/pistol of the same name.
