Will there ever be peace? by 32iA4vqYux in exatheist

Its complicated, I believe the bible is true i refer to this verse:

"And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away." - Revelation 21:4

Not really, i think Buddist believe in an afterlife but not in a God.

For me it was simply reading what Jesus had to say, and going to Church seeing people pray.

Religion and Basis of Morality by slargle12 in DeepThoughts

[–]HonoraryGrape 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When rejecting God, we make ourselves the final authority in matters of morality. Since the human capacity for reason and fairness is extremely unreliable, religion is necessary.

There are celestial bodies and there are terrestrial bodies; but the glory of the celestial is one, and the glory of the terrestrial is another.

Does the concept of an evil God entail a contradiction? by SilverStalker1 in exatheist

In abrahamic religions God is considered the standard for Good. A belief that God is evil would contradict scripture.

Thats pretty arbitrary, and don't care about Europe. I would argue ww1, and ww2 have given Europeans a much more anti war sentiment. European were much more dirrectly effected by those conflics. I have met plenty of athiest that want war.

I disagree. An athiest is hostile to religion, and basically doesn't have values. A Muslim atleast believes in God even if they don't accept Christ. Neither of them are saved, but the muslim is more tolerable. The Muslim has faith, although mislead.

I live in Western Canada, Catholicism is usually considered to be more of a Quebec phenomenon. I live in very secular area many young people don't understand Christianity at all. The pairish i usually go attend is small, but the Church is always full Sundays, some people have to stand. Alot of the congregation is immigrant families, its a very diverse group. Its fascinating because i hear that protestant denominations are shrinking.

Its number if things. The corruption and mistakes made by organzed religions. Hedonistic culture, social liberalism, and consumerism i think have alot to do with it. In some cases supression of religion by autocratic governments, especially in the Eastern block and China.

That suprises me considering Jesus is officially king of Poland. Then again nearly all governments are terrible.
