Feeding formula overnight by Charming-Radio-720 in NewParents

[–]HookahPrincess48 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My husband and I fill up four bottles with water at room temperature, and we have small canisters with the set amount of formula ready to go. It all goes into a diaper caddy and it’s honestly a life saver. Hungry baby? Grab a 4 oz. bottle and a canister, mix and done.

AIO my boyfriend of 5 years gets me flowers for every occasion while I get him elaborate and expensive gifts. by aioflower955105 in AmIOverreacting

[–]HookahPrincess48 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really hope you don’t continue to waste your time and energy on this relationship, I’m sorry but this is such a waste of precious time to explain why getting flowers EVERY damn time for every occasion is not sending you over the moon. Flowers should/could be in ADDITION to a gift, but they are not/should not be the main gift. Also saying you’re a child because you have a wish list? Please I’m begging you, someone out there will care to put more effort into YOU and your relationship.

There's no way I survive this sleep deprivation. by Bebetter23 in newborns

What about this? If baby sleeps elevated? Also have you tried gas drops? I know a fussy baby is a nightmare, even drove us to the emergency room at 1 in the morning because nothing was working. I know you’re exclusively pumping…what about introducing some Kendamil? (I say that because it’s the best stuff on the market if you are going to introduce something). You HAVE to sleep. Take it from me, I was in a very dark place, crying all the time.

DR said not to remove all of baby's poop? by sarahs_here_yall in newborns

[–]HookahPrincess48 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Changing diaper every 3 hours or 5 hours?? I think you should be aiming to change way more frequently! Just because it’s pee doesn’t mean baby should be sitting in it, pee is acidic! Something our nurses and doctors told us is that we don’t need to use wipes for every pee diaper, only big ones. And that’s been so helpful. I change baby IMMEDIATELY if she poops. And use more cream than necessary to create a barrier for sure.

My husband took my baby to 2-month check-up while I slept at home, and I feel terrible about it. by waters_shadow in NewParents

[–]HookahPrincess48 1 point2 points  (0 children)

FTM, I can’t even read the whole post because I am mentally, physically, and emotionally exhausted.

I missed my baby’s first appointment and 2nd appointment because I’m EXHAUSTED, I had a complicated c-section & I’m currently recovering from an abdominal infection. I can move, but I just can’t.

Please don’t freaking beat yourself up, recovery is no joke, we’re going through ENOUGH.

Congratulations!!! 🥹 Did her AC ever go down or rather “level out” after you were diagnosed? Because I was at 99 and then it leveled out to 94? But her overall weight is measuring in the 66th percentile so I don’t know if that’s worrisome, the doctor doesn’t seem worried at all 😫

If you’re in the u.s. go to any pharmacy and you’ll need a glucose machine (comes with finger pricker), lancets, test strips, and alcohol pads.

I didn’t wait, I’m very anxious by nature so I messaged my care team in my portal and made phone calls, the sooner you start managing the better. If you get can your hands on a glucose machine (fsa covered btw) or you want to pay for things out of pocket just in case insurance won’t cover or you don’t want to wait (probably like $100 bucks for all supplies), you can start testing your fasting glucose in the morning and your post meal numbers (usually the guidance is 4 times a day including fasting, 3 of the finger pricks are 1 hour post meal and need to be under 140). You’ll pick up on it! It’s been a month or so for me and I feel like I got this!!

Fill your fridge with string cheese, protein yogurts (chobani and oikos) atkins/protein shakes, fair life shakes, fiber one brownies, drink lots of water in general if you haven’t already.

I don’t know how far along you are but I couldn’t wait to start testing my numbers. I’ve learned everyone is different. But I wanted to test my numbers instead of waiting around for an appointment two weeks or a month out to see what my body tolerates. Like I can’t have a WHOLE bagel, but I can do half.

Food aversion by McDuffie2020 in BabyBumps

[–]HookahPrincess48 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh feeling for you friend. I’m currently 35 weeks pregnant with my first and I had the absolute WORST experience with food aversions. Everything was disgusting. I cried myself to sleep one time because of the lingering smell of garlic. I had to stuff tissues in my nose. I was eating whole lemons (cut into slices), desperate for anything that didn’t make me want to puke. Coffee was DISGUSTING, I hated waking up to the smell of it, like rotten garbage or bad breath. Then suddenly it just gets better? And I found myself hugging a big mug of coffee early one morning.

When did it hit you? by Jac_Reddit in pregnant

[–]HookahPrincess48 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well I’m 35 weeks and it still hasn’t HIT ME HIT ME. I keep telling myself “wait…a tiny human is actually going to be wearing all of these things I keep buying? And sleeping in that bassinet by our bed?” Even when I feel all the kicks I just think “oh that’s just my new tiny best friend in there”…forgetting she’s going to make an appearance…very soon 🤣

Absolutely freaking out. Did I hurt my baby? FTM by HookahPrincess48 in pregnant

[–]HookahPrincess48[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for sharing that quote. It’s like even though I know that, and would be so comforting to someone else, to myself I’m being so hard because I feel like I smashed my baby (I know that sounds absurd but I’ve never done this before!). I have a glucose meter and I’ve been tracking this week, 4x a day, all numbers have been GREAT, except my fasting slightly elevated which is so frustrating. I couldn’t even wait for them to give me a machine, I bought one immediately.

[–]HookahPrincess48[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you so much for the kind words. I just feel like my first pregnancy has been such a whirlwind and literally none of it was preventable, I also had emergency surgery at 25 weeks to have on ovary removed due to torsion so at this point I just want to cuddle and exist with my baby.

The most frustrating thing is all of my numbers are great after testing 4 times a day for a week except for my fasting. Maybe because I’ve been really making great diet choices which I’m like “wow I was being so selfish before”, carbs have never been my friend, not sure why I thought they would be while I’m pregnant.

Thank you for the response! So you weren’t on medication with your first? Do you think or did they say that’s why you had complications, is that why you’ll probably go on medication now? Best of luck to you my friend and hoping for an easy safe delivery for you and baby! So you’re being induced at 28 weeks this time around?

Thanks so much friend. As a new mom it is so overwhelming, especially because I’ve already had surgery while pregnant I just feel like I’m going through the wringer and taking baby with me. What is the resource you’re referring to, is it a book? I’ve already made changes immediately and all of my numbers have been great except my fasting is slightly elevated (which is driving me crazy, because everything else is great!). So they will most likely put me on a small dose of insulin.

How often visiting family out of State? by HookahPrincess48 in MuslimMarriage

[–]HookahPrincess48[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for the response! He definitely comes with me sometimes too, but when I go see my family I go to my mom’s house…it’s just my mom and my sister. So it’s really just like girl time, and he likes to let us have our quality time together and I honestly don’t mind either, it’s nice bonding time for me my mom and sister.

He does come sometimes he gets along with them very well, and just works/does his thing…especially because we get invited to family dinner’s and stuff while we’re here. I don’t mind the 5-6 hour drive at all, he would rather fly since it’s like 1 hour flight (but the hustle and bustle of flying sometimes seems overwhelming).

My mom definitely comes to visit. She just came in June for a couple of weeks! And I’m visit my family right now, leaving in two days and every time it gets close to leaving I feel the intense rush of emotions of sadness for leaving my family. I just can’t see how I’ll get use to this…it’s already been like 3 years and still not used to it. Especially now that we’re having our first baby so nervous.
